Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 160

Before long, Sabrina also came out to join Martin in toasting the VIP guests.

Bella stayed by their side, looking after them, but her gaze kept darting back towards Lillian's table.

She looked at Lillian like a tiger watching its prey, ready to tear her to shreds at any moment.

But Lillian couldn't care less about her glares.

After about three hours, most of the less important guests had left.

Lillian didn't leave. Victor was still there.

And because Victor hadn't left, many people from their industry were reluctant to leave either.

As a result, this group of tech professionals ended up being the last guests remaining.

Bella took advantage of a break, standing on an upper floor, one hand holding a phone to her ear, the other gently parting the curtains to watch Lillian and Victor outside.

She spoke into the phone, "Do it now. I want her out of this industry."

With that order given, Bella hung up.

She changed into a new gown, slipped on her high heels, and descended the staircase step by step.

Lillian still hadn't left, and Victor had no idea what she was waiting for.

Logically, she had already crashed the wedding. Any anger she had should have dissipated by now.

By staying, she was just waiting for everyone to leave so the Mercer family could turn their full fury on her.

After all, she had caused Martin a great deal of public humiliation.

Then, Bella walked over.

She wore a smile, gently swirling the liquid in her wine glass.

"Lillian, I haven't had a chance to properly thank you for gracing my mother's wedding with your presence today. This drink is for you."

She raised her glass towards Lillian.

Lillian didn't take it. "I don't drink."

The medication she was taking prohibited alcohol.

She had been drugged with a glass of champagne once before and hadn't touched a drop of alcohol since.

Bella's extended hand was met with a cold refusal, but she didn't get angry at all. Her warm, smiling expression remained unchanged.

"Then perhaps Mr. Knight could drink this on Lillian's behalf. I'm also very grateful to Mr. Knight for attending as Lillian's date today."

Victor replied, "I have work this afternoon, so no alcohol for me."

With that, he casually picked up a carton of milk, opened it, took a sip, and gave Bella a mock toast.

The meaning was clear: this would have to do.

Bella was no rookie. Even so, her expression remained perfectly pleasant.

"I just heard some news. It seems there's a problem with Lillian's company. Have you heard anything?"

As soon as Bella finished speaking, Lillian's phone rang.

She took it out, her eyes immediately falling on the time.

The timing was perfect.

After three seconds, she answered.

"Remember I said I saw a light on in your office? I told you that you forgot to turn off your computer, and you said I must have been mistaken."

Bella's phone pinged. She glanced at it. "The low-altitude economy... hahaha, Lillian, you're quite ambitious."

Everyone else's phones also lit up with notifications, including Sebastian's and Lillian's.

But Lillian didn't even look at hers. She just watched Bella's face, not wanting to miss a single flicker of expression.

If she missed it, she might never get to see such a spectacular display of shifting emotions again.

Upstairs, Martin had noticed the situation below. He was about to call Brandon over to see what was happening.

But Sabrina stopped him.

"Bella has always been very tactful in social situations. With her there, you don't need to worry. She definitely won't get into a conflict with Lillian."

Martin grumbled, "That girl is a menace. Bella should stay away from her. Sabrina, you're just too kind, always giving her chance after chance. You saw what she was like earlier, causing a huge scene at our wedding. It's infuriating."

Sabrina soothed him, gently hugging him, but her eyes were fixed on the scene below.

Her daughter had said she would cut off Lillian's path for good, and Sabrina was waiting for it.

Lillian was far too arrogant. To think she would dare to ruin her wedding today.

Her perfectly planned wedding had been ruined by her. It was unforgivable.

Down below, after his outburst, Victor suddenly realized something.

Lillian was Li. How could she possibly be so careless?

Forgetting to shut down her computer after working late? Unlikely.
