Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 170

When Martin saw Sabrina in such a state, his heart ached instantly.

He had waited half a lifetime to finally marry this woman, and on their wedding day, her eyes were red-rimmed, though she tried to hide it from him.

Martin couldn't bear it.

“Sabrina, your eyes... have you been crying? Didn't you go to comfort Bella? Why are you the one who's crying?”

Martin was clearly agitated. His wife had been deeply wronged, and as her husband, he couldn't just ignore it.

Sabrina replied softly, “It's nothing. I just got some dust in my eye.”

“How could you get dust in your eye out of nowhere? Don't lie to me, I know you.

It's about Bella, isn't it?

It's all because of that wretched daughter of mine. She's not only disobedient but she always stirs up this kind of trouble.

Don't worry, I'll teach her a good lesson later.

As for Bella's situation, I'll find a way to minimize the damage to her reputation.

I already called Sebastian. Don't worry, it won't affect Bella's work.

Sebastian said that Bella is doing an excellent job, and even today's incident won't impact her position.”

Sabrina hadn't expected Martin to have already called Sebastian. She wasn't worried about that front; after all, his company still relied on Bella.

What Sabrina wanted was to vent her anger.

Her long-awaited wedding of the century had ended in a mess, with Lillian causing a scene that made everyone think she was some kind of disreputable woman.

In short, the whole affair felt like a net loss.

And Sabrina was determined to recoup those losses.

To do that, Lillian would have to pay a steep price. Only then would she be satisfied.

“Martin, what should I do to make Lillian accept me?” she asked, her voice filled with sorrow.

Martin's brow furrowed. “Don't even mention that wicked girl. You don't need her acceptance. If she accepts you, fine. If not, she can get out of this house.

I'll just pretend I never had this daughter. It makes no difference whether she's here or not.”

Martin truly didn't care about Lillian at all. In his mind, she was ungrateful and petty, unwilling to make small sacrifices for the good of the family.

Everyone in this family worked hard.

He had dedicated his entire life to the company and this family, only now, at his age, finally marrying the woman he loved.

Who could possibly understand the sacrifices he had made?

Sabrina feigned concern. “Martin, isn't that too harsh? She is your biological daughter, after all.”

When they were away, she could exert maximum control over him, unlike at home where there were always people interfering.

Sabrina cheerfully agreed to the honeymoon, and that very night, they chose a secluded, high-end island resort abroad.

When Sabrina told Bella the news, Bella showed little emotion. She was still anxious about what Victor had said.

“Mom, if you want to go on a honeymoon, then go. You've always wanted to travel, haven't you? This is a good opportunity to get away and have some fun.”

Sabrina lowered her voice. “I'm not just going for fun, dear. I have to secure your shares in the Mercer Group. And as for that Lillian, it's time to deal with her properly.”

Bella was listless. “Mom, you can handle it.”

Sabrina’s face was gentle. “My dear daughter, don't be so gloomy. Watch your mother show you how it's done. You'll see that a mere Lillian is no match for me.

Those shares she returned? Once I've completely driven her out of the Mercer family, I'll have your Mr. Mercer transfer them to you.”

At the mention of shares, Bella's interest was finally piqued.

“Really?”

“Of course. Would I ever lie to you?”

“But... the Mercer men are always all bark and no bite. They keep saying they'll kick Lillian out, but they still haven't disowned her.”

Sabrina smirked. “That's because I haven't made my move yet.”
