Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 196

Sometimes, when Bella looked at Martin, she thought to herself that it was much easier to handle a man who was blinded by love.

Sebastian was far more difficult to win over than Martin.

She had grown up watching her mother's many tricks and could use them skillfully herself.

However, when she tried to use the tricks she had learned from her mother on Sebastian, they were completely ineffective.

Sebastian didn't fall for them at all. In fact, he found them crude. If Bella had tried to use such methods on Sebastian, she knew she would never get the results she wanted.

Sebastian was never one to be blinded by love. If he had been even a little bit, he would have been much easier to conquer, and she wouldn't have had to wait so many years.

Bella thought to herself that she really had it tough.

Compared to her mother, she felt like she had no way to start. Bella knew that Sebastian was a difficult target.

She had heard that even Lillian had spent a lot of time by his side, pestering him relentlessly, before finally winning that marriage.

But even so, Bella felt that Lillian had come out on top. When they got married, Old Mr. Blake had given Lillian shares in the Blake Group as a wedding gift. After she had their child, he not only gave Noah shares but also rewarded Lillian with more.

Although Lillian later returned them all, the shares were a gift from Old Mr. Blake, and even Sebastian couldn't override his decision. The shares were still there, just that Lillian didn't want them.

The Mercer family shares that Lillian had given up were now divided between her and her mother.

In the future, she was determined to get the Blake family shares that Lillian didn't want. Not just for herself, but for her future children as well.

She wasn't as foolish as Lillian, who had played a good hand so badly. Soon, she would probably be kicked out of the Mercer family.

What was the point of being born into a wealthy family if you had such a sweet beginning and a miserable end? What was the meaning of such a life?

Downstairs, Brandon was calling out, "Time to eat."

Martin, with his arm around Sabrina's waist, smiled and said, "Let's go, let's go down to eat. Today is a family reunion of sorts. Sebastian is downstairs too. He's probably almost done chatting with Brandon by now."

Brandon had recently seen Lillian making a name for herself in the tech world, and with the help of the much-envied Victor, he thought that maybe his own company could form a similar team.

The future heir of the Blake Group couldn't have a bankrupt maternal family, could he? That would be inappropriate. With this connection, as long as Brandon's requests weren't too outrageous, he could agree to them.

During dinner, it was clear that Brandon was very happy. In the month that Martin had been on his honeymoon, Brandon had managed the company well, and most importantly, he had developed a new project.

Martin, on the other hand, was still immersed in his newlywed bliss. It was only when the meal was almost over that he noticed the joyful expression on Brandon's face.

"Brandon, you look so happy. Is there some good news? Are you thinking about getting married soon? You and that Miss Quinn, any progress?"

Martin had met Hannah many times, but he didn't particularly like her. Her background was too ordinary.

As Brandon's girlfriend, she was fine for dating. After all, she was reasonably good-looking.

But for marriage, Martin didn't approve. Brandon probably understood this, which was why he hadn't pushed the relationship further. Since Hannah was Bella's best friend, it was a delicate situation.

Brandon replied, "Dad, you know my mind is on the company."
