Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 214

"Go to the hospital? At this hour? What a hassle," Sabrina said. "You've had a long day at work, and you're in a bad mood. You haven't even eaten yet, have you? Nothing else matters right now; you need to eat. That's the most important thing."

With that, Sabrina gently pushed Martin away and instructed the maids to set the table, then guided him to the dining table.

"As for the baby, we have to let nature take its course. If a baby is meant to be, it's not going anywhere, is it?

If it's really meant to be and it's already in my belly, don't you think I'll protect it?

Don't worry.

Eat first.

Tomorrow, you can go about your business, and I'll go to the hospital myself. Being pregnant isn't some major crisis.

Besides, what if I'm not? If we make such a big fuss, I'll be so embarrassed. Just trust me on this, okay?"

Sabrina was firm about not going to the hospital with Martin right then and there. She busied herself with getting him to eat his dinner.

Martin was still a bit worried. "After all, we're not young anymore. If you really are pregnant, knowing as soon as possible would help us take better care of the baby."

"I've been through this before, it's not my first time," Sabrina reassured him. "You can relax, you don't need to worry about such small things. Now, tell me while you eat. What exactly did you and Brandon fight about? I'll find a chance to talk to him and smooth things over later."

The pleasant mood from a moment ago vanished. Martin's anger returned as soon as Sabrina mentioned Brandon.

"I don't even want to talk about that rebellious son. I thought, as the eldest, he would have some sense of the bigger picture.

It's gotten to the point where I, the chairman, feel like he's trying to sideline me. Tell me, how could I not be angry?"

Sabrina had been thinking about it. When Martin mentioned fighting over the inheritance, she wondered if it was because she and her daughter had received Mercer family shares.

It turned out she was right.

No one had mentioned the shares since they returned from their honeymoon. Had Martin told Brandon about it today?

Sabrina asked cautiously, "Martin, did you tell Brandon that you gave the shares to us?"

"Of course not," Martin said. "Something like that, you have to find the right time to bring it up. It must have been Lillian. The shares were transferred from her name, so she would have known. Brandon has been trying to talk to her about forming a project team lately, wanting to borrow some of her people, right?"
