Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 290

“You don’t have to worry about whether she’s doing well or not anymore. Sebastian, give me a home.

You have no idea, I never had a home growing up.”

As she spoke, Bella leaned against Sebastian’s chest and began to sob softly.

“My mother took me with her, and we moved from place to place. Just when I’d start to get familiar with a town, we’d be forced to leave again.

Those men were always making empty promises to my mom, and in the end, we never even had a stable place to live.

Thankfully, we later met Mr. Mercer.

But he was still just a family friend. His house had his own son and daughter.

What was I?

I didn’t have a home of my own. My mother and I were always living at the mercy of others. We had a hard life.

Sebastian, can you understand what it’s like to feel like a guest in someone else’s house, to live in constant fear?

Now, I have you. Can you… can you give me a home?”

Bella looked up at Sebastian as she spoke.

Her eyes were red, and Sebastian felt a pang of sympathy as he looked at her.

He was about to agree right away; after all, he had already decided to marry her.

But before the words could leave his mouth, an image of Lillian flashed in his mind.

He remembered how frail she had looked the other day.

Suddenly, the words about marriage got stuck in his throat.

He decided he needed to be honest with Bella.

“Bella, I will give you a home. But now is not the right time. Lillian is sick, very sick, and I have to take care of her first.

“Bella, are you and Mr. Blake about to tie the knot?”

Bella was a bit dazed by the question. “What are you talking about?”

Hannah gave a mysterious smile. “You kissed Mr. Blake in public yesterday, and he stayed with you at the hospital all night.

This morning, I overheard Mr. Blake on the phone with his father, saying he was going to bring someone back to the Blake family estate to live.

If I’m not mistaken, Mr. Blake is planning to take you home with him, isn’t he?”

Bella’s mind jolted at those words.

In her hazy, drunken memory, she remembered clinging to Sebastian and asking him for a home.

And this morning, he had called his father about bringing someone to live at the estate?

Who else could it be but her?
