Lillian had been focused on her work, in no mood for idle chatter.

At his question, she lifted her hands from the keyboard and leaned back, relaxing into her chair.

There was water and some pastries her assistant had brought in earlier. She picked one up and took a bite, listening.

She laughed softly. "Sebastian, didn't you rush to divorce me so you could marry Bella sooner? What's the matter? Are you enjoying the single life so much you're having second thoughts? Don't want to marry her, or just not so soon?"

Sebastian couldn't control the fury that rose within him at her tone.

Listening to her teasing voice, what was she playing at? Was she truly happy to see him marry someone else?

"Lillian, do you have to talk like this?

"He's obviously just acting out of his own selfish desires but has the nerve to project it all onto me. It's infuriating."
