This wasn't the first time Brandon had clashed with his old man, so he wasn't afraid of his anger.
More importantly, the family didn't have a lot of money. For a family like theirs, the amount they had wouldn't last through any real trouble.
If some kind of accident happened, that money wouldn't be enough to handle the risk.
So, Brandon slammed his hand on the table and yelled back, "You know you're my father, but are you losing your mind? Don't you know what that money is for?
Tell me, where did you spend it?"
Everyone has a rebellious streak, and Martin was no exception.
The older people get, the more pronounced that streak becomes.
Being yelled at by Brandon only made Martin less willing to say where the money went.
What was wrong with spending a little money on his own wife?
He had been a bit uncomfortable that Sabrina had spent so much in one go.
But now, with his defiant side kicking in, he no longer saw it that way.
"Brandon, are you interrogating me? A son interrogating his father, do you really think that's appropriate? It's the family's money, so what if I spent some of it? You're getting more and more disrespectful of your elders. I'm the one who's contributed the most to this family. I've poured my entire life into it. And now that I'm old, you're going to question me for spending a little money?"
Lillian found the breakfast drama incredibly interesting. If she didn't have an appointment with Victor to check on the factory, she would have loved to stay and watch the whole show before leaving.
Getting a free drama with breakfast was certainly a great way to start the day.
Checking the time, Lillian stood up. "I have plans today. I'm done eating, so I'll be leaving now."
"Let's just put up with it for now. If we don't get the shares after his birthday party, we'll deal with it then."
Brandon was still holding onto the money he'd borrowed from Sebastian, and it was starting to feel like a hot potato.
He wanted to convert it into shares as soon as possible and then figure out a way to pay it back.
Naturally, he had his eye on the family's funds. But before he could even touch them, an outsider had gotten to it first.
Thinking about how all the crises he was facing were caused by that woman, Brandon felt particularly irritated.
"'Deal with it then,' 'deal with it then,' Brandon, why is it that lately, we always have to just put up with everything?
This thing with Dad, he was clearly in the wrong. It's a huge expense from the family funds; he should have given us some kind of explanation. But he spent it without a word. He knows our financial situation. Isn't this just making a bad situation worse?"
