Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 396

"Bella, your mother said you borrowed money to buy these shares. Is that true? How much did you borrow?"

Bella replied, "Dad, you don't need to ask about that. I'll figure it out myself."

Sabrina said nothing, merely letting out a soft sigh.

At this point, Martin was ready to give his life for Sabrina, let alone his money.

The most important thing was making Sabrina happy and comfortable. Nothing else mattered.

Bella's words only made him more insistent. "What are you talking about, how will you figure it out? Your salary is a few hundred thousand a year. Even with dividends from the shares, that won't come until the end of the year. That's a long way off.

This many shares is no small sum.

Bella, tell me how much it was. I'll pay for it."

Bella said, "Dad, how could I let you do that? I originally bought these shares with the intention of giving them to you. Now that you're giving them to me and Mom, how could I let you pay for them too?"

Martin took Sabrina's hand with one of his and Bella's with the other. "We're all family. It doesn't matter who holds the shares; they belong to the Mercer family.

You said yourself that I'm giving these shares to you and your mother, so naturally, I should be the one to pay for them.

Send me your account number and the total amount. I'll have the finance department transfer the money to you."

Bella hugged Martin, her voice filled with emotion. "Dad, thank you for being so good to me."

"We're family. It's what I should do."

Sabrina added, "Bella, you must thank your father properly. And from now on, you have to be even more responsible, you understand? Work hard and create more value for the company."

Dad, don't blame her. Her company was probably already in trouble when she was selling the shares.

She was likely desperate for cash, which is why she did it."

Martin's eyes turned red with fury. "Something this big was happening, and I didn't hear a single word about it.

What a good daughter I have. She had her mother's shares in her hands and never thought to keep them, to use the dividends to care for her.

Instead, she sold them off to squander the money.

And to think Eleanor Lancaster used to dote on her so much. I can't believe she raised such an ungrateful brat.

It's a good thing she went mad years ago, or Lillian would have driven her mad. She knows nothing, yet she tries to play investor and entrepreneur. I'd like to see what she has to say when she's completely ruined and comes crawling back to me, begging for help."
