Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 602

Lucas immediately smiled and changed the subject. “What are you talking about? I’m your man. Why would I be interested in your future daughter-in-law?”

Debbie replied, “As long as you know. You’re with me now, but that might not be the case forever. I’m quite happy having you with me for this chapter of my life. But given my status, it’s not appropriate to keep you around for too long. If it gets out, it would become a high-society scandal. If you want to start looking for your next patron, I won’t stop you. But you can forget about Bella. She’s my daughter-in-law.”

This was the first time Lucas learned about the connection between the two women.

He was surprised to find out they were mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.

“What are you saying? Even though I’m in this line of work, I feel like we were destined to meet. Now that we’re together, I have no other thoughts than to be by your side every day. As long as you’re happy and willing to have me with you, I desire nothing else.”

Debbie smiled at his words, but she knew better than anyone what people in this profession, men or women, were really like.

It wasn't her first time dealing with male companions. Since Sebastian took over, her life had gotten better by the day. With all that wealth, if she couldn't gamble, shouldn't she at least find some other form of entertainment?

“Alright, it’s that sweet-talking mouth of yours. I like it.”

Although Lucas now knew about the relationship between Bella and Debbie, he still didn't know who Bella's husband—Debbie's son—was.

He couldn't piece it together from the information revealed in their daily conversations. He had no idea which prominent family it was or how powerful they were.

However, judging by Debbie's usual gambling expenses, Bella's ability to give her hundreds of millions at a moment's notice, and the casino's one-billion-dollar line of credit for Debbie, Lucas knew she was undoubtedly the wealthiest patron he had ever accompanied.

Meanwhile, at the breakfast table in Halfridge Villas, Lillian Mercer suddenly announced, “No helicopter today. I’ll drive to the office myself.”

Leonard Prescott immediately tensed up. The helicopter was the safest option. It took her from the rooftop directly to her office, making her virtually inaccessible to outsiders. There was a private elevator that no one else could use. Driving into the basement, where others could also enter, was a much bigger risk.

Yesterday's apology livestream from the Mercer family had ended with Sabrina fainting. Some of Sabrina’s supporters were still stirring up trouble online.

For the past two days, the biggest spectacle in Northwyn had been the drama surrounding the Mercer family and Lillian. The whole internet was watching the show unfold, and many had lost money in the process.

Naturally, reporters and livestreamers were certain to be staking out the company building.
