Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 603

Leonard was worried. He glanced at Ethan Hayes.

Ethan caught Leonard’s pointed look and jumped into the fray immediately. “Ms. Mercer, driving yourself? That’s so dangerous. What if you get swarmed by reporters? It would be a huge hassle. Why don’t we just take the helicopter? It’s fast and convenient, and Mr. Prescott already filed the flight plan. It’d be a waste not to use it.”

Lillian said, “The whole internet is waiting for my response. Since that’s the case, I might as well give them one.”

Only then did Leonard speak. “Are you mentally prepared for this?”

Lillian replied, “If I weren’t, I wouldn’t be taking this risk. It's a shame I don't have time to play along with their theatrics. Otherwise, I’d let those who sympathize with Bella see what my mother looks like now. Maybe then they’d take back their worthless pity.”

“You said it yourself—worthless pity.”

Lillian smiled and nodded. Indeed, there was no need to parade her mother around for a show.

After breakfast, Lillian drove to the office herself, with Ethan in tow.

As she had predicted, a crowd of reporters was waiting at the company entrance, looking as if they had been staking out the place for a while.

The Mercer Group's stock was still suspended from trading, so public interest in the matter was incredibly high.

After parking her car, Lillian walked straight forward.

Terrified, Ethan quickly ordered the bodyguards to follow her.

He himself trailed closely behind Lillian. “Ms. Mercer, don’t give me a heart attack. You know if anything happens to you, the boss will have my head.”

Lillian replied, “Alright, enough with the drama. What are they going to do, attack me?”

They were just reporters. All they wanted was a statement from Lillian, her point of view.

Instantly, every camera lens zoomed in on it.

Even other livestreamers pointed their phones at Lillian.

She didn't mind; it was all the same to her.

“This is likely the first time most of you have seen something like this, isn't it? After all, you've only heard about such a disownment agreement, but never actually witnessed one.”

The most unusual part of Lillian's agreement was a specific clause: she was to leave with nothing, taking her grandmother and mother with her!

This single document severed all ties of gratitude and obligation between her and the Mercer family.

Immediately, a reporter raised a question. “Ms. Mercer, you were disowned and left with nothing, so why did you take your mother and grandmother with you?”
