Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 620

Lillian hadn't expected Mr. Peregrine to just decide to stay like that.

She'd just managed to send off Dr. Smith, and now there was Mr. Peregrine. It felt never-ending!

Lillian looked at Mr. Peregrine. She used to think he was very tactful, but now she realized he was quite good at getting what he wanted when it mattered.

Since Mr. Peregrine had offered to stay, what could Lillian say?

Refuse him now?

She was still too naive, unaware of how crafty the old man was.

He seemed honest, but he was actually quite shrewd.

Stephen quickly chimed in.

"See, Mr. Peregrine has spoken. Lillian, you have to follow the doctor's orders, right? If you don't, I'll..."

Lillian already knew what was coming next.

Fine, she gave in!

"I agree, I agree, okay? I'll have Mr. Peregrine stay and look after my health. Will that put your mind at ease, Brandon?"

Stephen nodded in satisfaction. "There, that's more like it. From today on, Mr. Peregrine is your responsibility. You'll take him home with you after work, and you'll bring him to the company when you come to the office."

Old Mr. Peregrine himself seemed to have no objections, simply looking at Lillian as if waiting for her to speak.

Lillian said, "Brandon, is that really necessary? Bringing Mr. Peregrine with me everywhere... won't that be a huge bother for the old gentleman?"

She was just trying to point out that he was an elderly man, and it felt improper to have him trailing after her busy schedule. How could she impose like that?

But before Stephen could reply, Old Mr. Peregrine spoke up.

Stephen replied, "As long as your condition remains stable, I promise I won't say a word to the family elders. You can rest assured on that.

"But if your condition becomes unstable and something happens, then I'll have to notify them.

"This is too big for me to handle alone."

Lillian said, "Don't worry, Brandon. My health is actually very good right now. Plus, with Mr. Peregrine and Dr. Smith around, nothing will go wrong.

"Until I'm cured, you absolutely cannot tell anyone else. I really don't want everyone running around for me, getting exhausted and worried sick."

Having gone through what she did with her mother and grandmother, she understood that feeling all too well.

That was why she didn't want to put the people around her through the same worry, especially now that she was in that situation herself.

Especially her relatives in the Lancaster family. They all treasured her and doted on her with every kind of affection.
