Bella’s voice was filled with excitement. It was obvious she adored the jewelry set.
Although she didn’t have a fine appreciation for jewelry, the auctioneer had made it clear that it was an antique set. Even after several hundred years, it still shimmered with a brilliant, dazzling light.
The fire of the gemstones was exceptionally beautiful, telling anyone who looked that it was a high-end piece, not something cheap.
She was marrying Sebastian; she certainly couldn’t wear anything cheap.
An extremely valuable item like this was just what she needed to match her future status as Mrs. Blake.
After her plea to Sebastian, Bella’s eyes remained fixed on the jewelry displayed on stage, shining with a look of determination, as if she was certain it would be hers.
Sebastian’s expression was cold. While he didn’t know much about jewelry either, he wasn’t a fool. After listening to the auctioneer’s lengthy introduction, he knew this thing would be absurdly expensive.
It wasn’t that he lacked the money, but he felt it was a waste to spend so much in this area.
Of course, the main reason was that Bella had already bought a great deal at this auction.
The items she had purchased so far already totaled around seventy or eighty million dollars.
Even for a wedding, Sebastian was unwilling to spend so much on jewelry.
Bella, however, didn’t seem to care and was on a shopping spree.
She had claimed she was also buying wedding gifts for him, but so far, the total value of his gifts was maybe twenty or thirty million dollars at most.
The gap in their spending immediately soured Sebastian’s mood.
He recalled his wedding to Lillian. They hadn't gone on a jewelry-buying binge at an auction like this.
Of course, they had plenty of jewelry for their wedding.
But most of it had been provided by their families and elders.
He had never bought Lillian any particularly expensive jewelry.
In fact, it was Lillian’s grandmother who had brought out many fine pieces.
One of them, still sitting in his safe, was said to be worth over a hundred million dollars. When the old lady gave it to him at the wedding, she had specifically told him to treasure it and pass it down through the generations.
“The starting bid is two hundred and fifty million dollars, with each raise at five million dollars…”
The price was announced, stunning Bella.
This set of jewelry was over two hundred million? Was this a joke? No matter how special, it was just jewelry.
That price… Bella subconsciously glanced at Sebastian.
Then a thought occurred to her: it didn't matter. Sebastian would be paying for it in the end, and he couldn't possibly refuse to pay.
And so, without hesitation, Bella raised her paddle.
Lillian’s jaw tightened when she heard the starting bid.
Leonard asked, “What’s wrong? Too expensive?”
Lillian shook her head. This price was less than half of the jewelry’s actual worth.
The auction house’s valuation was absurdly low.
