Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 886

Old Mr. Blake was rushed to the hospital, where top specialists immediately began running a full battery of tests on him.

In the hallway, Old Mrs. Blake, flanked by her bodyguards, thanked Lillian profusely. Knowing they had already burdened her enough, she made sure Lillian didn't need to involve herself any further.

During the frantic ride to the hospital, Old Mr. Blake had given his wife a brief rundown of Debbie's vile plot.

Fully aware of the situation, Old Mrs. Blake secured a private hospital room and had Debbie dragged inside.

Approaching the cowering woman, Old Mrs. Blake suddenly reached out and clamped a vicious grip on Debbie's jaw.

With her arms pinned behind her back by the bodyguards, Debbie couldn't move an inch. She tried to squirm, but Old Mrs. Blake's grip only tightened like a vise.

Old Mrs. Blake hadn't seen Debbie in years. She glared fiercely into the woman's eyes, examining the face that had caused so much ruin. Once she had taken a good look, she raised her hand and slapped Debbie hard across the face.

"That was for your schemes all those years ago."

Without missing a beat, she delivered a brutal backhand to the other side of Debbie's face. "And that was for your disgusting stunt tonight.

"Debbie Harris, I showed you mercy years ago. Letting you walk away with your son and live a comfortable life was the greatest grace I could ever offer. I only did it to build good karma for my own son.

"But heaven was cruel, and my boy was taken from me entirely too soon. Despite that, I buried my grudges and even supported your son's rise to become the CEO of the Blake Group.

Once Debbie was gone, Old Mrs. Blake waited anxiously outside the examination rooms. Her only concern was her husband's fragile heart. Given his history of transplant surgery, any extreme emotional shock could be fatal.

They spent the entire night at the hospital, moving from one grueling test to the next. They barely spoke, focused only on surviving the ordeal.

By the time the final exams were done and they had taken a moment to rest, it was already noon the next day.

Conferring quietly, the elderly couple decided they didn't care about public face or saving their reputation anymore. Old Mr. Blake's dignity was intact, and they weren't the ones in the wrong. All of this chaos traced back to Bella. If Bella hadn't brought Debbie to Northwyn, Debbie would still be quietly wasting away in her hometown. Furthermore, without Bella financially backing her, Debbie wouldn't have had the capital to blow at The Grand Sapphire Casino.

Debbie was an addict. Keeping her away from gambling might have suppressed her vices, but tossing her back into a high-stakes casino meant the withdrawal symptoms and desperation were going to be a nightmare to handle.
