Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 97

Life was truly full of unexpected surprises.

Something she had yearned for but could never have was now right in front of her, so easily within reach.

"Martin, what is this?"

Martin explained, "This is an apology to Bella on Lillian's behalf. I picked out two sets of jewelry from her mother's safe. One is for you, and Brandon took the other to give to Bella.

Lillian was completely out of line today. Bella tried to defend her several times, but instead, she embarrassed her.

That daughter of mine... I truly regret having her.

If she weren't in this family, our lives would be so much more peaceful."

With that, Martin took the jewelry from its box and smiled at Sabrina. "Let me put it on for you. Your elegance and this piece... they complement each other perfectly."

Sabrina made a show of refusing. "Oh, I couldn't, Martin. This belongs to Lillian's mother. It wouldn't be right for me to take her things.

What if she wants it back and comes looking for it? That would be so awkward."

Martin waved her concern away. "She's already lost her mind. What does she need jewelry for? Besides, she'll be like that for the rest of her life, crazy and incoherent. She'll never get better."

Sabrina paused. "Never get better?"

Realizing his slip of the tongue, Martin quickly corrected himself. "That's what the doctors said. She'll never recover, no matter the treatment. It's a permanent condition.

All the jewelry she collected will belong to you and Bella now. Don't worry, she won't be needing these things anymore."

A faint smile appeared on Sabrina's face, and with a little feigned reluctance, she allowed Martin to fasten the necklace for her.

She had admired this piece for over a decade, and now, wearing it herself, she couldn't help but touch it lovingly.
