Fated To Three Betrayed By All Until She Rose (Leilani) by Ahvahh novel Chapter 199

199 Or both…

Leilani.

“I do not know him.” The words slipped out of my lips before I could stop them, and as soon as I said it, Darius tilted his head to the side, cast a look at me, then at Zevran, and then he asked;

“Do you think I am stupid?”

I wanted to say yes… or no. Goddess, I really wanted to speak. But something in his gaze held my tongue. Something in the way his eyes had begun to gleam strangely made my knees go weak and my heart to race

I dropped my gaze so fast, suddenly feeling quite afraid to look him in the eyes anymore, and then I quickly corrected myself. “I know who he is. But we didn’t come here together. I didn’t even know he was here”

While I said those words, I vaguely remembered how I had caught a whiff of Zevran’s scent when I stepped out of my house earlier this night, but I had shaken it off because I was in a hurry and because I had tried to convince myself that he was too unimportant for me to care about his scent.

Now, he is here… ruining my plans the way he always does, and I didn’t know how to

feel about that.

When my eyes met Darius’ again, he was smiling at me; and that made me confused because wasn’t he the one who was looking so angry only seconds ago?

Isn’t he the one who for some reason looked like he was about kill me some minutes

ago?

Is he bipolar?

Goddess I couldn’t stop myself from asking; “What now?”

But he didn’t answer right away. He simply waved to a pretty young girl who immediately rushed to get him a glass of margarita and as soon as the glass was placed in front of him, he took a long sip, and turned back to face me.

He shrugged; “I just realized that the stupid werewolf followed you.” He drawled,

causing my eyebrows to shoot into my scalp.

“How…?” I began to say but stopped when he interrupted me by waving dismissively in my face.

“I can hear most of your thoughts, I think,” he said so simply, one would think he was talking about the weather and not his ability to search through my head like some goddamn creep.

The thought made me uncomfortable- very uncomfortable, and I folded my arms across my chest as I glared straight at him.

“Some.” He said, and my frown deepened.

“Huh?”

“I said, I can hear some of your thoughts… not all.”

“Am I supposed to be happy about that? Am I to jump in glee after hearing that you can hear most of the things I think about, but not all? I snapped sarcastically, causing him to roll his eyes at me.

He didn’t even seem offended that my voice had risen a few notches, catching the attention of some of the people around us as he took another sip of his drink and whispered in a voice that was both gentle but icy at the same time- and I don’t know how that is possible.

He asked; “You don’t understand, do you?”

I didn’t. I frowned.

“I hear everyone’s thoughts- all of it,” he began to say in that strangely calm voice,” It’s my gift. But I can’t seem to get past a certain wall you have in your mind, making it impossible for me to hear anything else besides the ones you’ve willingly allowed me to hear.”

I froze.

He must… he must be joking right?

“No, I am not joking.” He answered my thoughts again, smiling when I pinned him with a glare.

His eyes, like sharp blades, roved along the length of my body in a way that made me suddenly self-conscious. It felt as if he could see right through me, but then he stopped when his eyes met mine.

“I know you have a lot of questions for me—”

“And I think I have asked you some of these said questions earlier. I am still waiting for

you to answer them.” I answered, interrupting him, and I immediately realized how much he hated being interrupted by the way his eyes flashed eerily before he sighed;

“I didn’t fish you out amongst your siblings; just do not have or wish to have anything to do with any of them. It’s you I want.”

“Why?”

“Because you’re one of us.” He answered easily, not minding the effects his words had on me, or the way my hands were beginning to shake slightly when I felt a sudden creeping feeling running up my spine.

“I am not one of you,” I spat through trembling lips and he smiled again— I think I’m beginning to dread that smile.

He shrugged. “Yes, that can also be true. I am a Lycan and you’re not exactly a Lycan like me.” He said, causing my already racing heartbeat to even begin palpitations.

Goddess, I couldn’t believe that I was standing right in front of a Lycan. A full blooded one, not the sorry excuse that Keisha was.

My limbs shook so badly, I had to lean against the table; and as much as I wanted to leave this place due to how uncomfortable he was making me feel. I couldn’t. I felt rooted in place.

“Are you not curious to know what you are, Leilani?” He asked, and when I wouldn’t respond, he continued; “You’re a hybrid. An abomination. You’re a mixture of werewo blood and Lycan blood. Hence the reason you’ve been unable to shift. Because… now let’s be frank Leilani, what would something so unethical like you shift to? A wolf? A Lycan? Or both?”

Both?

Both?

Goddess, I couldn’t speak. I couldn’t move. It felt like my body had somehow dissociated from my mind and I could hardly make sense of anything he was talking

about.

The only thing I could hear now was my raging heartbeat, and I trembled again when he rose to his feet.

A strange shudder ran through me when he planted his hand on the side of my face, his index finger trailing a slow soft motion across my skin.

With a voice as smooth as milk, he whispered “Talk to me, Lani…”

-And goddess I immediately hated the sound of that nickname on his lips.

“What do you think an abomination like you would be?”

I didn’t answer that demeaning question right away. Instead I whispered the one thing I could think of; “You’re lying.”

He frowned.

“You’re lying,” I said again. “I haven’t shifted because my parents have been suppressing my wolf, not because of some stupid cock and bull shit you’ve come up with!” I spat, hating the fact that he only smiled at me.

“Your parents?” He spat, throwing his head back; And a weirdly chilly sensation ran up my body when his deep laughter filled the air

I nearly fell to the floor from panic… but there was something else. Something dark and powerful that seeped into my bones… something that clawed its way through my

soul.

My body shook convulsively but gnashing my teeth together, I squeezed my eyes shut and seethed; “What’s so funny about that?”

“Nothing,” he drawled, “…nothing besides the fact that you think that wimp, Malakai, has the balls to father someone like you.”

“Huh?” 1

“I just said you’re a hybrid, Lani. Your mother is a wolf and Malakai is also a wolf. Do th maths.” He said, but I didn’t need to do any math because I already knew what he was implying.

I already had an idea where this was headed..

I was already beginning to see why my parents would try to suppress my wolf… or Lycan… or both. 2

And I hated it.
