212 Street fight.
Leilani.
“Arrghhh!” Louis groaned as the paper cup struck his face, causing the warm- almost scalding hot-liquid to cascade down his skin.
His hands shot up to cup his now red face while an extremely long string of expletives slipped out of his mouth as he turned to pin me with a murderous glare.
When his eyes met mine, they darkened. He hissed; “It’s you, bitch.”
I lifted my chin so high that I met his gaze, my voice cold as I spat; “Yes, it’s me.”
For a moment, Louis seemed taken aback. His mouth opened and clamped shut as if struggling to force out words. And then he whispered; “you look… you seem…” but then, as if suddenly catching himself, he turned to Agnes and seethed; “Let’s go, Babe.”
However, it wasn’t until then that I turned to look at her. It wasn’t until that very moment that I noticed how mortified she looked. How scared she was. How pale her skin now appeared and how she shook like a leaf in the wind. 1
She took a subconscious step back when he pressed forward but as soon as his hands shot out to grab her arm, that thing in my head snapped again, and I found myself rushing to stand between them like a human shield, shaking with anger when he tried to reach behind me.
“Agnes!” He barked, but still I wouldn’t budge.
“She’s with me!” I hissed, not missing the way her eyes widened before she whispered quietly behind me; “Run.”
Just one word but I heard all the desperation in it.
One word and I could tell just how afraid she was of this monster.
It vaguely reminded me of the times I’d been in a similar situation in the past. And that memory fueled my rage until it reached its peak. I draped my arm around her neck and pushed her forward, my voice soft as I said; “let’s go.”
And maybe that… maybe publicly ignoring Louis was all it took to make him lose his mind. Maybe it was all that was needed for him to snap. For a split second, he turned away from Agnes to face me, but just as his hands shot out to grab me, she jumped in,

causing him to smack her hard on the cheek.
*Crack!*
The loud crack of his palm hitting her face vibrated across the almost empty cafe, followed by a silence that was so deafening, I could literally hear the sound of my blood rushing through my veins.
I felt like I was the one slapped.
Like I was the one he’d humiliated…
He tried to hit her again but I had had enough of his shenanigans, I closed my eyes, exhaled and smacked his cheek so hard, he stumbled backwards, his eyes widening in shock.
“Leilani!” Agnes cried,
“You!” He spat, marching forward. But I was done letting him get away with his stupidity. I was done backing away because I feared what he would do to Agnes.
My anger got the best of me and I still do not know how I did it but one minute, he was towering above both of us, his eyes smoking dark as he seethed; “I’ll end you…” but in the next minute, he was groaning in pain, sprawled on the floor from being thrown over my shoulder and into a now broken table.
Blood oozed from an open cut on his forehead. His lips were busted too; and his eyes… his eyes were my favorite part of his body. They were round and wide from shock and fear. But I didn’t miss the annoyance in them… the rage.
And the stupid callousness that he was about to regret.
The few people around us gasped in disbelief- especially Agnes. But I was too enraged to care. Too annoyed to bother about the fact that this was a public space and that anyone could literally see me doing this.
From my peripheral vision, I caught him clawing himself to his feet, and I waited until he was almost standing before I kicked him hard in the butt, causing him to fall face first into another table.
“Argghhh goddess!” I heard him wail. And do you know what his cries did to me?
It spurred me on!
It excited me.

I could vaguely hear the sounds of Agnes’ surprised squeals as I charged again at Louis; And this time I grabbed him by his collar, glared right into his ugly face and gritted out;
“I do not know who the fuck raised you, but you do not lay your filthy hands on a
woman!”
“You’ll regret this!”
*Crack!*
I punched his face again, smiling when blood dripped from the cut on his bust lips. His eyes darkened and he tried to stand up… but then.
Confusion creased his forehead.
Anger too.
Why?
Because he could not rise. He could not move. And I realized then and there that I had done it again. I had kept him frozen in place the same way I’d done to Jay just a few days ago.
However, this time, I wasn’t so surprised by it. Instead, I used it to my full advantage and continued to smack his face time and time again until he looked like he was about to explode in embarrassment.
“Next time you lay your hands on Agnes, you’ll be answering to me.” I spat and with
that, I raised my fist above my head, not missing the way he flinched as if in fear… then I stopped. 1
He sighed. “You didn’t—”
*Smack!*
I punched him hard in the nose, interrupting him and feeling a burst of satisfaction when I heard the unmistakable sound of his bones crunching under my fist.
He growled, shaking in both pain and anger.
But I could swear that I wasn’t done yet. By the gods, I needed to hurt him even more. Most of his face was red and swollen with blood dripping from his lips and his nose… but I needed more.
I wanted more.

him in the eye.
I continued like that until I was sure that he was in worse shape than Agnes. And after I was done with him and a little satisfied with my art, I slowly pulled myself away from him, wiped my blood stained fist against his shirt and turned away.
“Let’s go, Agnes!” I called out.
For a moment, Agnes didn’t move. She didn’t speak either and instead stared at me like I’d fallen straight out from the solar system. Her breath hitched when I tapped her arm lightly, and then she whispered; “You—”
“Let’s go.”
“How did you-?”
“We’ll talk about it later, I rasped, desperately tugging on her arm, and blissfully forgetting about the guy behind me. “For now, let’s go!” I said and with that, began to drag her out of the cafe.
I had however only walked for a few minutes when a different thought struck my mind. I suddenly realized that I wanted to know whatever it was that Louis had against me. I wanted to find out why he’s been trying to get to me and why he seemed head bent on hurting me.
I also wanted to know what his relationship with Chalice was… and what other way was there to get that information besides the horse’s mouth?
I turned to Agnes and flashed her a smile, my voice soft as I said; “Go wait for me in the
car.”
At that, she turned to face me with wide eyes. “Where are you going?” She asked curiously, but I was already walking away. I was already returning to what I had started.
The cold wind blew against my face as I made my way back into the cafe. “To Louis.” I said lightly, “…make sure to create some space for him in the car. He’ll be joining us.” I finished and with that, I stormed back into the cafe, my lips curling into a small smile when he froze as soon as he saw me. 3
“Are you a witch?” He asked coldly, sounding almost afraid, “…how are you so different from your sister?”
“I’m afraid we’ll have to talk about this later,” I answered sassily and with that, I literally

breezed over to him, smacked his face and when he fell to the floor, his knees hitting the ground, I smacked him hard behind his neck and sighed when he fell face first to the floor.

possessed.
“I’m sorry for the trouble, the broken items are on me!” I said softly, bowing at the people around me before I turned to pick Louis up, hoisted him on my shoulders and walked out of the cafe like he didn’t weigh more than paper.
And truthfully, it felt like he didn’t. (
