Fated To Three Betrayed By All Until She Rose (Leilani) by Ahvahh novel Chapter 219

219 Darkness.

Leilani.

My expression turned stony as I glared straight at him; And I know that you may call me weird but even as I frowned, I could still feel the way my face heated up, burning all the

way to

my neck and to the tips of my ears

I could also still feel my heart racing like a bitch.

And trust me, I hated it.

I hated how guilty I felt whenever Jay was mentioned. I hated how the voice inside my head kept making me feel like I was making such a huge mistake. I set my glass onto the table and crossed my arms over my chest again, my voice icy as I spat; “That’s none of your business.”

wered, raising his hands,

“True,” he in a gesture of surrender.

And that was surprising because it was unlike him to simply give up on a topic because I had asked him to. When his eyes met mine again, I could swear that I saw something weird and different swirling around those deep dark orbs. He hissed; “Ah ah sorry, so what do you want me to pretend to be interested in?”

Keyword: Pretend.

I sighed. “You can start by pretending not to notice those two men behind that table who has been watching us for approximately fifteen minutes now, eavesdropping on our conversation.”

At my words, he frowned, a surprised expression fleeting across his face as he leaned even further into his chair. His voice was silky, almost velvety as he mumbled; “Let’s leave then.”

Something about those words and the way he said them made my body tremble slightly. His voice- or maybe it wa

the cold-made goosebumps sprout across the surface of my skin. I wrapped my arms around my body as I cast one more glance behind us, my breath hitching when I realized how crazy close those men were to us

now.

“And where do we go from here?” I asked in confusion, not missing the way his eyes darted from my eyes to my lips and then back again as he said; “To your mother.”

Silence settled between us after those words were uttered. I took a moment to

contemplate if I really wanted to do this, worst still with Zevran, but after careful thoughts, I finally gave in and nodded. My voice was soft as I said; “Okay.”

He didn’t even wait to give me an opportunity to take back my words as he quickly rose to his feet, took my hands in one of his and my bag in the other, and then began to lead me out of the dimly lit restaurant.

Sparks flew in the places where our skins touched and I retracted my hands quickly only to have it forcefully taken back as he whispered into my ears; “They’re watching.”

And goddess, the way his breath fanned the side of my face!

The way his weirdly comforting warmth slipped into the side of my sweater.

His fingers rubbed against my hand as he pulled me forward and upon arrival at my car, he stopped, turned to me and asked softly; “Can I drive you back?”

As soon as he asked that, my face tugged downward into a frown. I glared at him then at my car. And then at his car which was only a few yards away from us. I didn’t even need to think it over- I didn’t want to- I simply said; “No.”

“Why?”

“Why?” Isn’t that like a stupid question to ask?

Why?

“Because you came in your car and I came in mine. Also, I can drive myself just fine.”

As I spoke, I didn’t miss the way the tremor in my spine intensified. The way my stomach knotted into the tightest most twisted knot ever known to man. The evening air was chilly but I was slightly warm. And I was so warm to the extent that I soon began to sweat.

As if noticing my discomfort, Zevran placed his hand on my forehead as if to check my temperature, his voice barely above a whisper as he asked; “Are you good?”

I wanted to say yes. Goddess, I wanted him to stop looking at me the way he was. His eyes danced across my face then to my lips; But just as he was about to say something else, I shook my head and muttered;

“I’m good. You can go now, I’ll be right after you.”

“I can’t let you drive yourself in this state.” He answered stubbornly without hesitation. And before I could argue, he helped me into the passenger side of my car, went around it and got into the driver’s side.

And by this time, I felt completely out of breath. My visions blurred significantly and my trembling was getting worse and worse with each passing second. I could feel a slight pain brewing just underneath my abdomen and the more I breathed, the worse it felt. I shuddered.

Goddess, what the hell is happening to me?

Am I drugged?

Again, my eyes flashed back to the entrance of the restaurant and my eyebrows shot into my hairline when I found the pretty plump ‘Jessy’ standing there as if waiting for something-or someone- with both of her hands planted on her waist.

When her eyes met mine, she flashed me a smile; But it wasn’t as sweet as the ones she gave me earlier. These ones felt sinister. Dark It felt like she was threatening me with her lips and winning.

And that… that made my heart race. That made a sudden panic slip into my bones. I turned back to Zevran who was startin

my car, and in a voice dripping with urgency, I rushed out the first thing I could think of; “My drink.”

He stopped and turned to me. “What is it?”

“I think they put something in my drink.”

For a moment, he looked like he couldn’t believe his ears. His hands on the wheel froze as his eyes darted to the restaurant’s entrance door, and I also didn’t miss the way his breath began to come in harsh pants as he pressed his hand to my forehead again.

A second passed and another…

He whispered; “You’re burning up!”

But I didn’t need to be told a second time for me to realize that as I could already feel it in the way my hot breath burned my nostrils. I could feel it in the way my neck and arms burned.

And in the way it felt as though my guts had been set ablaze.

I shivered slightly when his fingers trailed over my wrist and forced out the words; “Let’s go.”

However, Zevran did not immediately do as told. He did not immediately leave because he wanted to ensure that I was fine- at least fine enough to be taken home- and that there was where he messed up, because next thing I know, I was jolting upright, my hand slapping over my chest when someone began to knock frantically on the car’s

window.

My eyes shot open when they met the icy gaze of a strange huge guy whom I’ve never seen in my life before, and for some reason, as soon as I saw him, my blood ran cold.

He gestured to Zevran to wind down the car’s window but I knew… I immediately knew that that was a bad idea.

I whispered; “No.”

Zevran turned to me. “Huh?”

“I have a bad feeling about him,” I hissed. “Get the hell out of here!”

He didn’t even wait to be told a second time. He didn’t even argue as he immediately twisted the key into the ignition and tried to drive away.

However, he was too slow because by this time, we were already surrounded. Outnumbered. And I was slipping on and out of consciousness, barely able to keep myself awake.

The last thing I heard before everywhere soon began to go dark was the sound of screeching tires, then breaking glasses… I vaguely heard Zevran scream out something under his breath before I sunk into the abyss that called out to me.

My heart stopped beating in my chest, and so did my breathing stop.

Then there was darkness and silence.

A serene deep darkness.
