Chapter 488: Their sun.

Leilani.

If anyone had ever told me a couple of months ago that I would one day be running through the lush greenery located at the Valemont residence in my hybrid form, then I would have never believed them.

If they had told me that I would be able to shift, not under special circumstances and not under the full moon then I would have called them a blatant liar.

But here I am, doing all of the above and I was doing them with ease while listening only to the sounds my paws made as they hit the soft grass and the whooshing sounds in my ears as the wind blew past me.

The air was cool against my fur, ruffling at the soft cloud-like hairs covering the length of my body. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me, travelling as far as I could go, and when I finally stopped at a clearing that looked more beautiful than the mural painting I had been so obsessed with back at the museum I had visited once in Germany, my heart was racing.

Frantically.

I had shifted without pain... and I shifted again back to my human form without any form of struggle whatsoever.

A small smile touched my face as I lowered myself to the floor with a grace that I never used to possess and it wasn’t until I dropped into the grass, the grass which now scratched at my skin uncomfortably, that I realized something had missed earlier.

I was naked.

Stark naked.

I had shifted without a care in the world, and without some extra clothes, blissfully forgetting the fact that my clothes would rip apart in the process.

The thought made my face heat up with embarrassment. It made me bite my lower lips with a vengeance that shouldn’t suffer.

At first, my predicament sounded funny even to my own ears, but as the seconds bled into minutes and into an hour, I began to fidget.

I couldn’t go back like this and I was not with my phone, so reaching out to anyone was as good as impossible.

I thought about waiting here until nightfall but that in itself was another wrong decision entirely as anyone could walk in on me. Hell, I might even end up giving the guards on night shift a free show if I decided to return by then.

"That won’t do!"

Just as I thought these things, I was suddenly jolted out of my thoughts when I heard the familiar sounds of footsteps approaching. In shock, I quickly rose to my feet, darted behind a large tree not so far off and waited.

And waited...

"Leilani, I can smell you so I know you’re here."

The familiar voice belonging to... Kael slipped into my ears, making my heart jump traitorously in my chest, and when I would not respond right away, he added; "I brought you some clothes."

At the mention of the word: clothes, my attention snapped into sharp focus, and without a thought, I pushed myself from behind the tree and stepped in front of him, only to let out a surprised gasp when all three brothers screamed like banshees.

They took only one glance at me before turning their backs on me. But that wasn’t all. Also made it a point to cover their faces behind their hands.

I had no idea why they were behaving like they had seen a ghost until I realised that I was... stark naked.

I gulped and heavens, a deep sense of embarrassment immediately slammed into me like a ton of bricks.

No matter how hard I tried to play it off, I couldn’t shake away the fact that I had just allowed them to see me fully naked.

I lowered my lashes, hid my blush and muttered; "The clothes please,"

Kael was the one to respond to that. He pushed his hand holding a pile of clothes backwards but also made no attempt to turn around.

I snatched the clothes from his deft fingers, took a long glance at the beautiful long dress and drawled;

"All done."

And as soon as they heard my voice, they all turned around and let out another yelp when they noticed that I had in fact not worn it yet. Goddess, I couldn’t help it. I threw my head back and laughed when they spun around one more time, acting like actual children. I found their reactions so cute I could barely look away.

This time, I actually threw the dress over my head and wore it quickly, and by the time I was done, I muttered; "I am done for real now."

They did not move. They acted like they hadn’t heard me.

"I really am." I said again, and this time, Caelum was the first to turn around. He let out a sigh of relief when he saw me fully clothed but I didn’t miss the bright shade of pink staining his cheeks as his eyes travelled from my head to my bare toes.

Zevran and Kael went next. They turned around with eyes so wide, they appeared like saucers on their faces, and when they took in my new look, they exhaled.

They were also blushing.
