Four months later:

I closed my eyes, smiling to myself as the strong wind ruffled my hair, sending many tiny pieces of confetti straight into my hair and mouth and floating into the air.

I stood before the triplets, my mates, clad in my white dress that hugged all my curves perfectly. My hair was styled into a chignon and my hands trembled with the weight of three rings resting on my fingers and three futures resting against my heart.

The great hall was quiet— so quiet I could hear the sound of everyone breathing. Hundreds watched from the marble steps below, yet all I could hear was the uneven rhythm of my own heartbeat.

Three men.

Three vows.

And a bond that wove through us, tighter than vines on an abandoned bridge. The high priest smiled at me but all I could see was my father’s face, soft and warm. He smiled back with tears in his eyes.

He looked at me as though I was treasure, his eyes watering as he stared intently at my face. For a fraction of a second, his fingers tightened around my hand.

My voice wavered. "I, Leilani Valemont, vow to choose you... even on the days when choosing feels difficult."

His lips curved into the smallest smile.

"I vow to trust your strength and your love; and I promise to stand beside you instead of hiding behind you."

His head lowered just as my throat tightened.

"I also promise to remind you and your brothers that even kings are allowed to rest and that you can rest on me for the rest of your days."

A quiet laugh rippled through the hall.

When I finished, he raised my hand to his lips, his eyes never leaving mine as he kissed it.

"I accept your vow," he whispered.

Then I turned to Zevran.

Zevran was the first brother I loved. The first one who understood me amongst the three. Now, looking at him made my chest feel tight and made the lump in my throat grow bigger.

I squeezed his hands tightly, willing to steady myself with his unwavering support, and then I started;

"I vow to look for the things you never say aloud..."

His breathing faltered.

"...I promise to hear your silence as carefully as I hear your voice. I will never let you wonder if you are loved by me or not..." I murmured just as his fingers curled around mine, "...because every quiet piece of you has become home to me."

A stray tear escaped the corner of his eyes before he could stop it.

"I accept," he whispered.

Caelum was all fire where his brothers were stone.

He challenged me.

Annoyed me.

Made me laugh when I was determined to be angry... and loved me loudly.

"I vow," I began, smiling despite myself, "to never mistake your teasing for carelessness."

His grin widened and a few people chuckled.

"I know your heart better than your words and I promise to dance with your chaos instead of trying to tame it."

My voice dropped a few notches and with my palms now pressing against each side of his face, I finished;

"And when the world convinces you you’re too much... I’ll remind you that you are exactly enough."
