Faux Vows, True Desires novel Chapter 546

Once inside, Webster gathered everyone working at the mansion in the grand hall to introduce them to the new lady of the house.

Since this was Owen's primary residence, the hall was filled with security guards, housekeepers, drivers, and gardeners.

The old Cecilia might have been taken aback by the crowd.

But now, having been close friends with Lucinda and married to Owen once before, she carried herself with grace and poise.

"Good evening, ma'am," everyone greeted Cecilia respectfully, following Webster's lead.

With a warm smile, Cecilia announced, "This month, everyone's bonus will be doubled."

She didn't bother with motivational speeches; instead, she opted for the straightforward gesture of doubling their bonuses, marking her first day as the lady of the house with a tangible benefit. It was a strategic move to win their loyalty.

After all, she was now the mistress of the house, and she wanted everyone there to be on her side.

Ruby was in jail, but Megan hadn't given up, and it was likely Ruby wouldn't either once released. Who knew what trouble Ruby might cause? These people had worked for Owen for years and understood his past feelings for Ruby. Cecilia knew she needed their support to secure her position.

Though Cecilia wasn't one for schemes, she was determined to keep her man close!

The staff was overjoyed, and even Webster couldn't hide his delight as they all chimed in with thanks, "Thank you, ma'am."

Owen watched Cecilia handle the situation with a fond smile, clearly pleased with how she won over the staff.

"You can all leave now," Owen said in his deep voice. "My wife and I don't need any assistance for the evening."

Webster quickly signaled everyone to exit. They had met the lady of the house, and it was important not to make any mistakes in the future. The newly re-married couple certainly didn't want any interruptions tonight.

Soon, the grand hall was left to just the two of them.

Cecilia leaned comfortably into Owen's embrace, looking up with a gentle voice, "Honey, I didn't consult you before deciding on the bonuses. You're not mad, are you?"

Owen kissed her cheek tenderly. "I've already told you, the household finances are yours to manage. You're the mistress here, and whatever you decide about salaries and bonuses is fine with me. No need to consult me. I trust my wife completely."

Cecilia chuckled, lightly tapping his lips. "You've got a silver tongue that just makes me fall more in love with you."

"Let me sweeten your lips too, so I can enjoy the taste," Owen teased, capturing her lips in a kiss that was both possessive and tender.

Cecilia responded eagerly.

After the kiss, Owen whispered in her ear, his voice low and husky, "Darling, should we start with the wedding night or get familiar with our new home first?"

Cecilia, arms around his neck and cheeks flushed from the kiss, softly replied, "Whatever you wish, tonight is all about you."

Then she added, "This is our home, and there’s plenty of time to get acquainted with it."

"I just thought, if you don't like the decor, I can have a team come over to remodel it to your taste," Owen said, scooping her up and heading upstairs.

Cecilia surveyed the opulent surroundings. "Other than being a bit extravagant, I don’t see a problem. Honestly, I have no knack for interior design. My shop's decor was all Lucy's doing."

"You'll get used to it. I designed it for long-term comfort, with the best materials. We’re not strapped for cash, so why not indulge a little?"
