Faux Vows, True Desires novel Chapter 547

On Cecilia's wedding night, she felt incredibly happy and fulfilled, yet she couldn't quite get a good night's sleep. Owen, a man who had lived a quiet life for nearly thirty years, seemed to have discovered a new obsession. Whether she was wide awake or drifting between sleep and consciousness, he was tirelessly attentive. Even when she was exhausted, he would gently say, "Honey, you rest, I'll keep myself busy."

Cecilia could only manage a silent, exasperated response.

Her restless night led to a late morning, and it wasn't until her stomach's protests became impossible to ignore that she finally awoke, long after the sun had risen. Opening her eyes, she was greeted by Owen’s smiling face, handsome and full of cheer.

“Honey, you’re finally awake.” Owen was thrilled to see her up, and with a tender touch on her cheek, he apologized, “My bad, I promise I won’t overdo it like last night again.”

Recalling the previous night, Cecilia’s cheeks flushed a lovely shade of pink. In the next moment, she playfully grabbed a pillow and swatted it at Owen. “You insatiable wolf!”

Owen, acknowledging his over-enthusiasm, let her hit him with the pillow. After all, a pillow fight was all in good fun and didn't really hurt.

Once she calmed down, he scooped her up, blanket and all, saying softly, “I might be a bit of a scoundrel, but you know you love me that way.”

Cecilia gave him a playful punch, “Where are you taking me?”

“Let’s get you a nice bath, you’ll feel better.”

“You’re sleeping in the guest room tonight.”

“No way, I promise I won’t bother you again tonight. We’re married now, couples are supposed to sleep together unless there’s a reason, like snoring. I don’t snore, and I definitely want to be with you.”

The thought of spending another night away from the comfort of being with her was unfathomable to him. Cecilia pinched his cheeks lightly, teasing, “If I trusted a man’s word, pigs might just fly.”

“I can’t speak for other men, but you can trust me. I always keep my promises,” Owen pledged sincerely.

In the midst of their playful banter, Owen carried his beloved wife into the bathroom, filling the tub with warm water. He offered to help her bathe, but Cecilia shooed him out with a laugh.

Left outside, Owen chuckled to himself. They were officially married, yet she was still so bashful. It was rare to see her so shy, and he found it endearing.

Cecilia would say, “Was I not feminine before?”

Owen, eager to stay in her good graces, would quickly reply, “You had a pure, girlish charm back then.”

When Cecilia emerged from the bathroom, she looked refreshed and invigorated. “What time is it?” she asked, her hair still damp as she glanced at Owen. Before he could answer, she added, “Where’s your hairdryer? My hair is too long, it needs a good blow-dry.”
