Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 3687

"Every pet here is assigned a unique digital ID microchip, so there's absolutely no chance of a mix-up. You have nothing to worry about!" the sanctuary worker explained enthusiastically.

The moment the swan was released into the massive enclosure, it immediately waddled over to the other swans. Instantly, the bird seemed completely rejuvenated and full of life!

As Marina turned to leave, the swan actually flew over to the edge of the fence, giving her a few loud, raucous honks as if saying goodbye.

After paying the exorbitant boarding fee and walking out to the car, Marina finally let out a massive, tension-relieving sigh. The great swan crisis was officially handled!

Sitting in the driver's seat, Carson glanced over at her. "You aren't mad at me anymore, are you?"

"I wasn't really mad at you to begin with!" Marina replied flatly.

Carson started the engine, his voice dropping into a soft, mesmerizing cadence. "Even when a mistake is made, it's never completely beyond repair, is it? As long as both people still want it... as long as we refuse to give up!"

Marina froze. Her long eyelashes fluttered before she slowly dropped her gaze to her lap.

Carson checked the time on his dashboard. "We've been running around all morning. Let's go grab lunch, and then I'll drop you off at your office."

"No, thank you!" Marina rejected him coldly. "I have urgent things to handle at work."

Carson didn't miss a beat. "You still have to eat even if you go back to the office. Eating with me first won't change anything!"

Marina frowned in frustration. "Pull the car over. I'll get a cab to the office myself!"

Carson's tone turned uncompromising. "No."

Marina's temper instantly flared. "Carson, is this supposed to be you showing remorse?"

Carson slammed on the brakes and whipped his head around to stare at her.

Marina was equally stunned by her own words. What the hell had she just said?

The car idled at a red light. Carson's dark, predatory eyes locked onto hers, his voice dropping to a low, husky rumble laced with absolute triumph. "Are you finally willing to give me a chance to show remorse?"

Marina's face turned completely rigid. "I didn't say anything!"

A slow, devastating smile spread across Carson's face. He didn't push her any further, nor did he say anything else to rile her up. When the light turned green, he smoothly accelerated through the intersection, taking the next turn to head straight toward Marina's office building.
