As I spoke, I deliberately looked at Jared. My wolf bristled, sensing the tension crackling between us.

Alexander’s expression darkened like iron, a glint of coldness flashing in his eyes; his voice was icy. Stop stirring up trouble! Emily is so capable; designing is easy for her. How could she not have time to compete?”

My smirk felt predatory.

My tone was almost taunting. Fine; once you’ve seen her design draft, come back and ask me for it. Otherwise, if you want the competition certificate and she can’t produce a work, won’t that just slap you in the face?”

Alexander’s pupils constricted; his expression shifting between anger and uncertainty. He took a deep breath, suppressing his anger, gritting his teeth.“You want to copy Emily’s design, right?”

My inner wolf growled; this accusation felt like a cheap shot.

I paused, then burst into laughter. My laughter was clear and melodious, igniting a nameless fury within Alexander.

My wolf reveled in his discomfort.

“What are you laughing at?!” he yelled.

I leisurely wiped away my tears of laughter, my eyes sparkling with mischief. Just as I was about to speak, Jared interrupted. “Actually, I have an idea,” Jared said urgently and anxiously. His wolf seemed to be pleading, desperate to mend fences.

Both Alexander and I turned to him.

“Isabella should give the entry to Emily; After all, Emily’s talented; it’s more suitable for her. I’ll let Isabella rejoin the team.” Jared assumed I’d be thrilled to hear he wanted me back on the team, thinking I would gladly agree.

His wolf was clearly naive, misreading my icy demeanor.

I used to adore him. When he first started the drone team, I was just a young she–wolf, still learning the ways of the pack. He didn’t want me, and I begged him for a long time before he finally agreed.

The memory stung.

Ice covered my face; I looked at him coldly.

My wolf bared its fangs internally.“How dare you think I’d return after being kicked out?” My voice was like a winter wind, piercing and sharp.

This statement shattered Jared’s naive assumptions. Confusion and disbelief filled his eyes–what did I mean? Was I still throwing a tantrum? Did he need to coax me again? But he had already offered me a way out; why was I still being so ungrateful? Jared’s brow furrowed, impatience creeping onto his face. His wolf, usually so confident, seemed lost and confused.

His voice carried anger and a threat.“Isabella, I’ve already given you a way out. You should know when to stop; don’t push your luck!”

A cold smile crept onto my lips, my eyes filled with disdain.

My wolf felt a surge of triumph. My voice was as frigid as ice.“You can keep that way out for yourself!”

With that, I turned to Alexander, my eyes glinting with provocation. “If she’s so capable, let her get the entry herself. From now on, she can’t touch anything that belongs to me!”

My wolf snarled silently, asserting dominance.

He maintained a cold expression, his voice carrying an oppressive weight. “Are you really not going to see Caleb? He’s sick because he feels guilty towards you.”
