Chapter 126

The coldness in Jared’s eyes intensified; his grip tightened painfully. I winced, a soft sound escaping my lips, but I lifted my chin, my gaze hardening. Right now, my freedom is restricted; I can sue for…”
“Isabella!” Jared roared, disbelief etched on his face. His wolf howled in his mind – disbelief at his once obedient sister. Caleb had even tried to appease me; he and Alexander had specifically sought me out. Why was I still so cold?
I spotted a young pup approaching. I raised my voice clearly.
“Excuse me, will you summon the Elders? This he–wolf is trying to harm me!”
“Isabella! You-” Jared’s words caught in his throat; his eyes bloodshot. Alexander remained a silent observer.
His wolf sensed the permanent rift.
Seeing the icy detachment in my eyes, Alexander finally understood the severed bond.
As soon as I spoke those words, he swiftly intervened, grabbing Jared’s arm, pulling him back.
The pup rushed to my side, concerned.
“Are you alright?”
I nodded calmly.
“Thank you.” He stood protectively, watching Jared warily. My wrist bore red marks from Jared’s grip.
I gently rubbed it, looking at Jared, my voice icy.
“My comm–stone is worth thirteen thousand.
Will you compensate me, or should I summon the Elders and have them visit the Miller Pack?”
“Isabella!” Jared’s eyes blazed; his temples throbbed.
“You’re acting like you’ve never seen a new comm–stone!”
I smirked, mockery in my eyes.
‘I haven’t, in a long time.”
I looked at the shattered comm–stone, memories flooding back.
Each time, Emily received a new comm–stone, leaving me with her cast–offs.
Sometimes, she’d promise her old one to another pup, leaving me with an even older model. My wolf bristled with resentment.
‘Impossible! Emily just got a new one last moon“– Jared’s words trailed off, his pupils constricting.
I looked at him, my words clear.
“Pay up.”
Alexander produced his own comm–stone, initiating a transfer. He glanced at the shattered screen, unsure if it would still function, and sent the payment.
‘I’m sending fifteen thousand. The remaining two thousand is for your distress!” His voice was sharp, sarcastic. My wolf responded

with a low snarl.
I watched him impassively.
The familiar chime of the transfer confirmed the payment; a hint of satisfaction flickered in my eyes.
Alexander was enraged by my distrust, laughing angrily, his eyes dangerous.
“You’re incredible!”

I reached for the broken comm–stone, but Alexander thought I was trying to leave. He stepped in front of me, his arm raised, though not touching me, the threat clear.
“Give me the competition entry!” he commanded coldly, his gaze sharp, like he was facing an enemy.
I smirked, looking him in the eye.
“Is your busy sister Emily participating? Isn’t she preoccupied with the drone competition?” My wolf purred with satisfaction.
