Chapter 136
Grayson held my paw; his low, magnetic voice, laced with his wolf’s calming pheromones, steadied me like a calming spell. I felt his silent support, his unwavering loyalty; my heart, and my wolf, warmed. I thought I’d hidden my emotions well, but Grayson’s sharp senses, honed by his Alpha lineage, had pierced through my facade.
His wolf sensed my wolf’s apprehension, but also its simmering power.
But I wasn’t nervous; I was excited! My wolf was eager to unleash its strength.
“With your skills, just perform normally; you’ll definitely make the shortlist.” He didn’t want to pressure me, his words carefully chosen. The Alpha who always demanded first place now only asked me to be shortlisted. The top ten would compete internationally.
His wolf was showing its respect for mine.
I laughed; was this the most powerful way to say the most timid words?
Remembering the Miller brothers‘ strict demands, that any imperfection meant I wasn’t worthy of their notice, then looking at Grayson, I couldn’t help but smile confidently and brightly.
My wolf stood tall, ready for battle.
“Don’t worry, Grayson. I’ll win.”
In my past life, Emily had won with my modified design; now, I’d win with my own–a creation born of my
own
wolf’s essence.
I didn’t notice Caleb observing me and Grayson from the edge of the waiting area. His gaze was deep and complex, filled with pain and
guilt.
His wolf’s scent was heavy with regret, its pheromones radiating sorrow and longing. His heart felt gripped by an invisible hand, each beat filled with indescribable agony.
The stage was bathed in the ethereal glow of moonstone crystals; contestants presented their work. I sat calmly, watching the screen,
which showed each contestant’s presentation.
My number was late in the order, conveniently placed after Emily’s. That sequence felt deliberately malicious.
Emily walked elegantly onto the stage, raising her chin, presenting her work.
Her wolf’s arrogance was palpable.
“My work is inspired by the collision of traditional oriental culture and modern fashion…”
Her design appeared on the screen.
Whispers arose; some frowned; some conferred, their scents a mixture of confusion and recognition.
“This design looks so familiar.”
“I’ve seen it somewhere…”
“This is…”
Emily stood on stage, unaware of the murmurs, oblivious to the scent of suspicion.
She thought the audience was just amazed by her work, her smile growing brighter.

Her wolf reveled in the supposed admiration.
“These intricate patterns were added deliberately to make the design more luxurious…” she explained confidently.
In the front row, Alexander and Jared wore smug smiles. To them, Emily’s performance was flawless.
Their wolves shared their confidence.
They held flowers and gifts, glancing towards Grayson’s direction, wanting to see if he’d prepared a surprise for me.

Grayson was calmly watching the stage, his wolf’s calmness radiating outwards. Alexander sneered inwardly—he’d had no time to
prepare.
Emily finished and stepped down; they rushed to her.
“Emily, you did great!” Jared offered flowers, his wolf’s approval evident.
The host announced the next contestant. I calmly walked onstage, inserting my data chip. My designs appeared on the screen, their vibrant colors and original designs captivating the audience.
Alexander’s sarcastic smile vanished the moment he saw my work. His wolf’s arrogance shattered, replaced by a stunned silence. He stood abruptly, face draining of color. This wasn’t the copycat design he expected! What the hell? Didn’t he dump the draft to the Smith Pack territory? And I’d updated the designs! I should’ve used Emily’s designs!
His wolf snarled in disbelief and fury.
