Chapter 139
From my vantage point above the judging elders, I watched coldly as the Miller brothers staged their pathetic display.
My gaze was impassive, detached, as if observing a play utterly unrelated to my own existence. My wolf, however, thrummed with a low, simmering anger.
Caleb, unsettled by Jared’s accusations, glanced up at me. His wolf, normally a calming presence, shifted uneasily. He hadn’t been trying to appease me; he simply wanted to witness my triumph.
My lack of outward reaction left him simultaneously relieved and bitterly hurt. His wolf whined softly, sensing the emotional distance.
Jared, catching his brother’s gaze, looked up at me too. His eyes blazed with fury; his claws extended, a tremor in his hand as he pointed.
“Get down here! Did you deliberately set Emily up?” His wolf’s snarl was almost audible.
Emily trembled, shrinking into Alexander’s embrace. Her tears flowed freely; her sobs wracked her body. Her voice was hoarse.“Jared,
don’t speak to Isabella like that. Caleb can’t speak because of her; scolding her will upset him further.”
Her wolf, sensing the strategic advantage of appearing weak, amplified her distress.
Tears streamed down her face; she looked pitifully vulnerable. Yet, a flicker of triumph gleamed in her eyes.
She didn’t know how her plagiarism was discovered, but I would bear the brunt of the fallout; her reputation couldn’t be tarnished!
Grayson moved beside me, his hand brushing lightly against mine, offering silent support. A silent warning flickered in his eyes, aimed
at the Miller brothers. I squeezed his hand.
“Grayson, I can handle this.”
Unlike Emily, I didn’t need others to survive. My wolf stood tall, unafraid.
I descended the steps with quiet confidence, facing the Miller brothers. Then, I turned to Emily, a faint, mocking smile playing on my lips.
The scent of my
wolf’s amusement filled the air.
“Feeling wronged? Feeling framed?” My voice was calm, yet laced with a steel–like edge.
Alexander and Jared’s faces were grim. Alexander glared at me, his eyes burning with barely contained fury. Jared’s claws dug into his palms until his knuckles were white. His wolf growled, low and menacing.
“Emily would never plagiarize!” Alexander declared, his body shielding his sister.“And she certainly wouldn’t steal your work! You know your own skill level!” His wolf stood firmly between them, ready to fight.
I chuckled, a low sound that echoed through the hall.“Who said she plagiarized my work?”
My wolf’s amusement only deepened.
Emily’s eyes widened in disbelief. She’d taken the sketches from my den, and they were unregistered. Her wolf panicked, sensing the trap closing in.
Alexander and Jared exchanged uneasy glances.
I smirked, casually activating my data pad and projecting images onto the screen. Several simplified, yet strikingly similar designs. appeared none matching Emily’s.

“These are designs by Nina Finch, created for a Moonstone pup charity event in the Whisperwind Glades,” I explained smoothly.“Since they weren’t for commercial use, they weren’t formally registered.
However, many in the weaving community have seen them; the originals are archived with the event’s records.”
My wolf’s voice echoed the truth in the scent of my words.
The color drained from Emily’s face. Her wolf whimpered, exposed and defeated.
“And this event was widely reported on the Howlnet,” I added.
She trembled, her wolf paralyzed by fear.
She’d never paid attention to the pack news. With me as her unpaid assistant, she’d never felt the need to improve her skills.
Seeing those sketches in my den, she assumed they were mine.
Emily suddenly realized the sketches she’d secretly copied were simply my practice pieces.
Even if the Miller brothers weren’t experts in weaving or familiar with Nina’s work, they understood these designs had nothing to do with me, and that I hadn’t framed Emily. My wolf’s subtle scent markings, imbued with truth and honesty, served as silent
confirmation.
