Alexander watched her, his heart aching.

She hadn’t rested properly for days, tending to Caleb.

Her already frail health was failing, she wouldn’t last much longer at this rate. His wolf felt the familiar pang of worry.

“Emily, rest,” Alexander said softly, gently taking her hand.“I’ll care for Caleb.” His wolf urged him to protect her.

She shook her head, her voice soft but firm.

I’m fine; Caleb needs me; I can’t leave.” Her eyes shone with a gentle light; she was a devoted sister, indeed. Her wolf echoed her determination.

A warm feeling surged within Alexander, a respect for her devotion. He knew Emily’s feelings for Caleb were genuine; she was willing to sacrifice everything for him. His wolf acknowledged her loyalty.

A sharp rap echoed, breaking the silence. Several Silvermoon Pack enforcers entered, their movements precise, their expressions grim.

The lead enforcer’s gaze swept the room, settling on Emily.

“Is Emily Carter present?” his voice was low and resonant.

Emily’s face paled, her body trembling violently, her wolf whimpering in fear.

She clutched Alexander’s hand; her knuckles were white; veins bulged on her hand. Her eyes were wide with terror; she looked like a trapped animal, lost and defenseless. Her wolf was near panic.

Alexander instantly stepped in front of her, his wolf bristling with protective fury.

“You must be mistaken! Emily is gentle and kind; she wouldn’t do anything wrong!”

His wolf growled a warning.

The enforcer produced a warrant, each word a sharp claw raking across Emily’s soul.

“We have sufficient evidence,” his voice was cold and unyielding.

“Accusing Emily Carter of misappropriating King Pack funds, illegal transfers, and falsifying records.

Please cooperate with the investigation!” Each word was a blow, shattering Emily’s hopes. Her wolf whimpered in fear and confusion.

When Jared arrived, he saw Alexander shielding Emily, preventing the enforcers from taking her. Emily’s face was ashen; her lips trembled; her eyes were filled with terror and helplessness. Her wolf cried out silently.

Seeing him, she immediately clung to his arm, trembling violently, her head bowed. Tears streamed down her face like broken pearls.

“Jared, save me!” Her wolf pleaded for aid.

Despite his disappointment, Jared felt a pang of sympathy for her fear. His wolf sensed her desperation.

He turned to the enforcer. “There might be a misunderstanding. Emily is my sister; I know about the funds; she might have been

careless…”

The enforcer’s face was grim; his voice cold.“Emily Carter is suspected of embezzlement and falsifying records; this is a serious crime, not a simple ‘misunderstanding‘!”
