Chapter 204
1 blinked, snapping back to the present.
Grayson stood before me, holding a clear umbrella, shielding me from the falling sn697.
He wore a soft cream sweater, softening his usually sharp features. His eyes, usually so intense, held a tenderness that made my breath
arch.
A fragmented memory flickered in my mind.
On that snowy New Year’s Eve, the bitter wind had cut at my face like tiny claws, I’d been banished from the Miller den, accused of bullying Emily.
Crouched in the snow, shivering uncontrollably, I felt the cold creep into my bones, a deathly chill settling deep within me. Just as I thought I’d succumb to the icy grip of death, Grayson had appeared, also in a cream sweater, a clear umbrella held aloft. He’d asked if I wanted to come home with him. Back then, bound to the Miller family, I’d refused instantly, fearing their wrath. How utterly foolish I’d been.
Why hadn’t I sought refuge with Grayson, becoming his sister then?
Impulsively, I flung open the swift–runner’s door, stepping out into the falling snow.
I stood beneath his umbrella, meeting his gaze. My wolf felt a surge of something akin to desperation.
“Why have you been sitting in the swift–runner for so long?” His voice held a note of concern, laced with gentle reprimand. It warmed. me from the inside out.
“I… I was thinking,” I mumbled, my gaze dropping to the ground. The emotions bottled within me threatened to overflow.
My hand reached out, hooking my arm through his, my fingers unconsciously clenching his arm, seeking the warmth of his touch. My wolf was desperate for the comfort of his presence.
I looked up, my eyes searching his.
“I was so lost in thought I forgot to return to the den.”
His eyes were a deep, tranquil pool, masking his thoughts.“What troubled you so?” He shifted to shield me from the wind, gently guiding me toward the house.
A hint of mischief danced in my eyes.
“I was wondering… Grayson, why are you so good to me?”
I tightened my grip on his arm, my fingers sinking into the soft wool of his sweater. His eyes dropped to my hand, a softness entering
his gaze.
“Because the one thing I lack, compared to those brats in the Miller Pack, is a sister.
And now, finally, I have one.
Of course, I have to pamper her thoroughly.”
He said this with a tone of feigned displeasure, but the words held a warmth that made my heart soar.

Chapter 204
A warmth spread through my chest, softening my resolve.
My eyes welled up, blurring my vision.
I wanted to speak, to express the jumble of emotions that swirled within me, but my throat tightened, leaving me speechless. My welf whined softly, its need for connection palpable.
