Five Alphas Kneel for Me (Isabella) novel Chapter 223

Chapter 223

My brow furrowed, then tightened with a fresh wave of worry.

My dream it felt so real.

I was trapped, a shewolf in a dark, smokefilled cave, only a few flickering embers offering weak light. The air hung thick with the acrid smell of burning wood, a suffocating presence closing in.

My wolf howled silently within, trapped and helpless.

The flames licked closer, their heat searing my fur. I thrashed, but I couldn’t move; my body felt heavy, weighted down by an unseen

force.

Panic clawed at my throat.

Just as the flames threatened to engulf me, a sharp crack echoed through the cave.

A familiar scentMarcus’scut through the smoke, laced with fear and rage. His desperate howls carried on the wind.

I tried to call out, but the smoke choked me, filling my lungs with burning ash. My vision blurred.

HelphelpI whispered, the sound swallowed by the smoke.

A single tear, hot and bitter, traced a path down my cheek. My wolf whimpered, its primal fear echoing my own.

Grayson’s hand was in mine, his touch oddly comforting amidst the terror.

His eyes, usually warm, were now cold and glacial, an icy mirror to the chilling fear that gripped me.

Meanwhile, at the Pack Council

The harsh, flickering light of the interrogation chamber felt like a physical blow. Alexander, his hands bound, sat hunched in a chair, sweat slicking his fur.

His wolf cowered within, its defiance crumbling under the relentless pressure. He refused to confess, his words strained and desperate.

Officer, I admit I acquired the firecharms. Butbut I truly didn’t know they contained white phosphorus! His voice trembled.

Every wolf uses firecharms during the Howltide celebrations. It’s not against the ancient Pack laws, is it?

He shook his head frantically, his eyes darting around the room.

II couldn’t have intentionally started the fire!

That’s against the sacred Blood Pact! Besides, even though Isabella and I are estranged, she’s still my bloodsister.

He nervously watched the Pack Elder, his heart pounding in his chest. The Elder stared intently at him.

Alexander felt his own heart pounding like a war drum. He had set fire to the Smith den, but he hadn’t tried to kill Isabella or Grayson.

Knowing Grayson, thoughvengeance would be swift and brutal.

He felt utterly helpless.

Then, the Elder’s voice cut through the tension:

Alright, Alexander Miller, the inquiry is concluded for now. You may return to your den.

Alexander stared, stunned.

Could it be that easy? But would Grayson let him go so easily?

Before he could process the words, the Elder released his bonds and gestured toward the exit.

As Alexander stepped out, he felt disconnected, adrift.

His relief was shortlived.

A black carriage pulled up abruptly, and several wolves in dark fur charged out, seizing him and forcing him into the vehicle.

His wolf snarled, a silent protest against the brutal capture.
