Chapter 226
Hello what? Alexander’s been released? But he’s vanished?
Andrew’s face hardened.
“Send a search party!”
He slammed the comm–stone down, his brow furrowed. Alexander was free, yet nowhere to be found A sense of dread washed over Andrew. Caleb overheard the conversation.
He sat up anxiously.
“What happened? What’s wrong?“Alexander’s missing. Grayson probably did it!” Andrew said grimly.
They both suspected Grayson; they’d had long–standing grievances.
There were skirmishes, but nothing lethal. Alexander had crossed a line, but he didn’t deserve death.
They were wrong.
In the den… The lighter flickered, igniting the accelerant.
The temperature spiked, the flames licking at Alexander’s trousers.
“Ah-!”
Alexander screamed, his voice raw. Blindfolded, he believed the flames consumed him. He thrashed, but his bonds held fast.
Though the expected pain didn’t come yet, terror overwhelmed him. He howled in despair,
“Help! Help! Grayson! I’m sorry! I’m sorry! Please let me go! I won’t do it again!”
The flames grew, the stench of burning fur thick in the air.
Grayson stood at the entrance, watching impassively.
Alexander’s screams, his frantic struggle, lessened his hatred, but not enough.
The accelerant sputtered out, the flames dying down. Alexander huddled in the corner, sobbing, utterly humiliated.
He knew Grayson hadn’t killed him, and he dared not provoke him again.
He believed that once the fire died and Grayson’s rage cooled, he’d be freed.
Grayson’s voice cut through the silence, frigid and devoid of mercy.
“Continue. The lighter sparked again; the flames reignited.
A fresh wave of torment shattered Alexander’s resolve.
“Ah-! No! Don’t burn me! I’m sorry! I truly know I’m wrong!” Alexander wailed, his voice a broken rasp–no longer the proud son of the Silvermoon Alpha.
Andrew knew Grayson was behind Alexander’s disappearance.
The Smith den had been torched, yet he couldn’t find Grayson! It was the Howltide celebration; Grayson wouldn’t be at the Smith Pack territory! Andrew sent out wolves to search, but there was no sign of either.
Finally, after the Howltide celebrations ended, Andrew waited outside the Smith Pack territory.
He saw Grayson emerge from a carriage. Andrew stopped him, his voice sharp with fury.
“Grayson! Where’s my brother?!”
“I’m warning you, if anything happens to Alexander, you’ll answer for it!“/
Grayson stood in the snow, his fur whipped by the wind, his face impassive. “Mr. Miller, so early, and so much anger? Your brother is missing.
What has that to do with me?”
Grayson’s tone was dismissive, even more infuriating.
