Chapter238.
He had the right to say that.
His wolf’s confidence, radiating from him in waves of scent, was a comforting presence. His words amused me, and I relaxed, the tension easing from my shoulders. Andrew’s face darkened further, his wolf’s fury palpable.
“Let’s go, don’t spoil your mood here.” Grayson supported me, leading me out of the Miller residence, his strong arm a reassuring presence against my trembling side.
He could see I’d suffered great injustice there, the residual energy of the conflict still hanging heavy in the air.
As soon as we left, the tension I’d been holding onto snapped. My body swayed, almost causing me to fall. My wolf whimpered, exhausted. “Careful.” Grayson quickly caught me, his scent a soothing balm to my frayed nerves.
What had I just experienced at the Silvermoon Pack residence? My wolf shuddered at the memory of the betrayal, the injustice.
Grayson’s expression darkened instantly, and he carefully helped me into the car, his movements filled with concern.
Leaning against the seat, I could no longer hold back my emotions. All the grievances, anger, and despair from my past life surged like a tidal wave, overwhelming my senses. My wolf howled silently within me, a raw, agonizing sound.
Grayson started the engine and drove away from the Silvermoon Pack territory. He drove for a while before gradually stopping in a secluded clearing, bathed in the silvery light of the almost–full moon.
He turned off the engine, unbuckled his seatbelt, then turned to me, stretching out his long arm to pull me into his embrace. His scent, warm and musky, surrounded me, a comforting presence.
“You don’t need to hide your emotions in front of me.” His voice was low and gentle, tinged with a barely perceptible tenderness that reached deep within me, soothing my agitated wolf.
I bit my lip, my fists clenched tight.
What was even more disgusting than those experiences in my past life was Andrew’s blatant knowledge of everything yet still allowing Emily to bully, suppress, and scheme against me! My wolf burned with a fierce desire for revenge.
He knew Marcus’s saving of me was a lie. What about the others?
Whether they knew or not, they all had a hand in helping Emily oppress me! I wouldn’t let any of them off!
After a long time, my emotions calmed. I looked up at Grayson seriously, my eyes meeting his, a silent understanding passing between us.
My pale lips parted slightly, about to speak, but before I could, Grayson’s communicator suddenly chimed, breaking my train of thought. My wolf growled at the interruption.
Grayson released me and checked the message.
He glanced at the contents, his eyebrows slightly raised.
“We have news.” He whispered to me, then answered the call. He pressed the answer button, and a cold, indifferent voice sounded-
“Speak.”
The person quickly said, “Alpha Smith, we found him! The man with burns being treated at the Healer’s Den is at the Moonstone Clinic!” Grayson’s eyes sharpened.“Okay.” He hung up, then turned to look at me, a playful glint in his eyes.
“We found him. At the clinic,” A playful smile touched his lips.“The clinic where Emily is recovering.”
At the clinic. Emily sat anxiously by her bed, her own wolf restless and fearful. She kept checking her howlnet feed, her face growing more and more grim.
Suddenly, the clinic door was flung open.
A wolf, his face wrapped in thick bandages, only revealing a pair of eyes, walked in. Even so, Emily recognized him instantly.
“Why are you here!” Emily exclaimed, then hurried to the door, checking for witnesses before slamming the door shut with a bang.
“Why can’t I be here?” The man’s voice was hoarse, like sandpaper scraping, harsh and grating.
She lowered her voice, her tone urgent:
“Are you crazy? Don’t you know what’s going on? Grayson, that madman, is spending a fortune to find clues for Isabella! Do you realize how many eyes are on me right now? If anyone finds out I’ve met with someone privately, it’s over!”
