Jared pressed the answer button, his voice urgent. “Andrew?”

King Pack’s Alpha’s panicked voice crackled through the communicator. “S–Jared, something’s happened!”

Jared slumped onto the den’s couch.“What could happen to the Pack?

Handle it yourself.”

“Jared!” The Alpha’s voice was urgent.“Several Pack members want to leave!”

Jared froze, his voice trembling.“What? Repeat that!”

“Our best hunters want to leave! They said… they said…”

“Spit it out!” Jared roared.

“They said the Pack has no future, they want to join a stronger Pack.”

Jared’s mind raced.

My wolf chuckled.

Losing his best hunters was, indeed, my doing.

The Pack, already fractured by my departure, was falling apart.

I wanted him to admit defeat, to become a laughingstock, his Pack dissolving. But now, he couldn’t hate me.

Andrew hiding the scarred he–wolf didn’t affect me. The reward for information about the fire had attracted attention; many were questioning Marcus’s actions.

It was Mason’s secretary, one of Emily’s allies.

The Millers, and even their underlings, were looking down on me now.

I didn’t respond.

Nana, in her high heels, stormed over.

“Isabella! You’re with the Smiths now, eh? You ignore calls and messages! Do you know the trouble you’ve caused?” My wolf felt a surge of icy determination.
