Chapter247.
Nana, paws on her hips, pointed a claw at me with a condescending snarl.
My wolf bristled; her scent, usually a faint musk, was thick with the arrogance of a high–ranking beta.
“You’ve been living too comfortably, spoiled with that rich she–wolf attitude!
Dropped your work, just playing around and disappearing–irresponsible! You’ve affected a lot of research progress, you know? Can’t you be a bit more sensible like Ms. Carter?”
She hurled a stack of scrolls at me. My wolf felt a flash of annoyance;
this wasn’t a civilized exchange of information.
“Translate these scrolls and send them to me immediately!”
The scrolls hit me, and I caught them, but I didn’t say a word. I raised my paw to block the rest, and they scattered on the stone floor.
Seeing this, Nana’s growl intensified.
“Dumbfounded? I’m talking to you, can you hear me! Hurry up!” She reached out and forcefully jabbed my shoulder.
The contact sent a jolt of anger through my wolf.
“I’m telling you, Isabella, don’t think you can do whatever you want because you have Grayson to back you up! You’re still a member of the Silvermoon Pack, you need to contribute to the Pack!”
I raised my paw, pushing her hand away.
“Nana, watch your words.”
My wolf bared her teeth subtly beneath my lip;
the alpha in me was surfacing.
Nana sneered, her lips curling in a snarl that revealed sharp canines.
“Look at you, daring to talk back now? Keep this up, and I’ll have Alpha Miller banish you immediately!” She knew I cared about my brothers and feared the Pack Council’s judgment.
I glanced at the scattered scrolls. “Those should be your responsibilities.”
My wolf felt a surge of righteous anger.
Nana was taken aback. She’d been celebrating the full moon too hard last night and forgotten her duties. She’d intended to dump the work on me as usual and shift the blame.
But she didn’t expect me to actually throw the scrolls back!
“I’m telling you, Isabella, you’re incompetent, this is a test for you! If you can’t handle the work, I will report your two–month Blood Dormancy Period to Alpha Miller and see if he’ll banish you!”
Her wolf’s scent turned sharp and threatening.
My eyes turned cold.
The attitudes of those above influence the attitudes of those below. In my past life, because the Silvermoon Pack looked down on Emily defended me, these she–wolves treated me like a servant.
And everything I did was related to Mason. I thought I was helping him.
So I worked hard, thinking I could gain his approval.
My wolf whimpered at the memory of that naive hope.
Now, I realized how ridiculous that was!
“I’m not an employee of the Fire Research Den; how can you banish me?”
Nana was stunned.
It was only after my reminder that she vaguely remembered I’d been involved in key R&D projects.
me
and
When those projects made significant progress, Mason, grateful for my efforts, promised to officially bring me into the R&D team and even offered me half of his share in the pack’s resources.
But at that moment, Emily locked herself in her den, sadly howling that she shouldn’t compete with me and didn’t have the right to, but she was heartbroken that I could stand beside Mason. Because of her sadness, Mason revoked his decision to accept me.
Although I still came to the Fire Research Den and participated in research, I wasn’t officially accepted.

It was Nana who retrieved the acceptance scroll and shredded it in front of me!
Nana pursed her lips, eyes narrowed, staring at me fiercely.
Her wolf’s scent shifted, a mix of anger and calculation.
Suddenly, she smiled triumphantly.
