Chapter258.
“I’m a she–wolf of the Miller pack! How dare you disobey me? If you don’t move, I’ll call Andrew!”
Her voice was sharp, laced with barely controlled fury.
The pack guard crossed his arms, his impassive gaze unwavering. His wolf remained calm, unmoved by her attempts at intimidation.
The gentle expression on Emily’s face froze, resentment flickering in her eyes..
Her wolf growled, a low, threatening rumble barely audible.
Jared’s heart felt like ice. His wolf sensed the shift in the air, the undercurrent of deceit. He quickly walked over.
Seeing Jared, Emily immediately changed her expression, her eyes welling with artificial tears, her voice dripping with false grievance.
“Jared!”
Her wolf was working hard to project vulnerability.
Jared stepped closer, and Emily, with red–rimmed eyes, complained, “Jared, I came to see Caleb, but he’s blocking me like I was a thief.”
Her wolf subtly released calming pheromones, hoping to disarm him.
She thought Jared would scold the guard, but Jared simply responded with a soft “Mm.”
His wolf remained skeptical, its senses picking up the dissonance in her performance.
‘Emily’s eyes widened suddenly, trying to maintain her fragile, pitiful facade.
“Jared, what do you mean? Are you suspecting me too?” Her wolf whined internally, desperate to maintain the charade.

Her voice was choked with manufactured grievance and disbelief.“I’m worried about Caleb. I just wanted to see him. Could it be… could it be that in your eyes, I’m the kind of person who would harm Caleb?”
In the past, seeing Emily crying, Jared would have been heartbroken and comforted her. But now…
He had seen another side of Emily! This guard was there to keep her away! His wolf howled in silent confirmation of his suspicions.
His voice was cold and emotionless.
“Aren’t you?” His wolf bared its fangs, a silent threat.
Emily was stunned, and tears streamed down her face.“Jared, why do you think of me this way? I never intended to hurt you. You are my most beloved brothers!” Her wolf desperately tried to manipulate his emotions, but he was immune.
Jared didn’t look at her and said to the guard, “Open the door.”
The guard immediately stepped aside.
His wolf sensed the shift in Jared’s
meanor,
a dangerous edge.
Jared was about to enter.
Emily panicked, grabbing his arm, attempting to force her way in. She had to see if Caleb was awake!
Her wolf was desperate for information.
Jared felt extreme disgust towards her. Hearing her speak or being touched by her made him feel nauseous! His wolf recoiled from her touch.
The moment her hand touched him, Jared immediately flung her hand away.
His strength was controlled–Emily was pushed back a step. But she suddenly screamed, losing her balance and falling hard to the ground. Her wolf yelped in feigned pain.
Aah–
Hearing the sound, Jared turned his head. Seeing her fall, her face twisted with pain, he hesitated–should he help her or pretend he didn’t see? His wolf urged him to leave her to her machinations.
Before he could decide, a figure rushed over and helped her up.
Then a scolding voice followed:“Jared, why did you push Emily!”
Jared looked at Emily in astonishment, then at his own hand.
His wolf was baffled by her theatrics.
“Ouch!” She cried out in pain, her tears flowing even more fiercely, as if she had suffered a great injustice. Her wolf’s cunning shone through. Then, the shock on her face faded, and he lowered his hand, no longer doubting himself, coldly leaving a final remark, “I didn’t push her.” He
turned and walked into the ward.

His wolf felt a sense of grim satisfaction.
He knew Andrew wouldn’t believe him.
Just like before, whenever Emily was injured, I explained that I didn’t hurt her, and he didn’t believe me. Elly manipulator!
He even doubted he had used too much force! But he knew he hadn’t
His wolf knew the truth.
