Chapter263.
He’d held that position for over a year!
At his age, finding a new position within another pack would be difficult. But who wouldn’t want to climb the ranks?
“I… Jerry gritted his teeth, instantly shifting his allegiance.
“I’ll make the calls now!” Besides the promotion, there was a hidden incentive.
Promoting from lower ranks was controlled by the HR director. With those high positions vacant, any wolf seeking advancement would offer him something, wouldn’t they?
Nana, dismissed and barred from high–level council meetings, eavesdropped outside. Hearing the only remaining executive switch sides, she panicked, bursting in.
“No! You have no right to do this!”
Her howl echoed through the chamber.
Every eye, including mine, turned to her. Though young and beautiful, I projected an aura of such overwhelming alpha dominance that Nana felt immense pressure.
Seeing Jerry hesitate, I realized he was merely a pawn.
I didn’t care about his loyalty.
Ignoring him, I curled my lips into a sharp, alluring, yet fierce sneer.“I have no right?
Who does? You?” My wolf tasted the fear in her scent.
Nana trembled, but remembering Mason’s mental reassurance, she hardened her stance.
“I just think, Miss Miller, being new here, you may not fully understand the Pack’s situation. Some decisions should be made carefully. After all, Fire Pack is the legacy of Alpha Miller’s hard work. If you ruin it, he will be very disappointed!” If I pressed on, Mason would fully turn against me.
Surely this naive heiress would understand her subtle threat.
“Huh- A cold sneer escaped my lips.“Are you threatening me?” My wolf sensed a challenge.
Nana raised her chin.
“Though I’m no longer the Alpha’s scribe, I’m kindly reminding you of what you should and shouldn’t do!” The message was clear: reinstate me, or face Alpha Miller’s wrath!
“Ha!” I sneered.“You’re so foolish, you don’t even realize it.” My wolf reveled in her confusion.
“What?” Nana’s eyes widened, incredulous that I wasn’t falling for her manipulation.
“Or perhaps Mason is too foolish and overconfident, believing I’m playing coy, wanting to return to the Miller Pack?”
Her scent betrayed her; she almost blurted out: Isn’t that true?!
My eyes locked onto Nana’s, piercing through her to Mason himself.
I said, word for word, “Don’t be self–righteous.”
My voice was a low growl; my wolf was sending a clear message.
Nana’s face drained of color.
She couldn’t believe it–what did that mean?
Didn’t I want to return to the Miller Pack?
I tilted my head, pondering.
“Taking Fire Pack from Emily, seizing the shares intended for the Miller brothers, and causing her to be ostracized…. isn’t that enough to show my determination not to return to the Miller Pack?” My voice was sharp and cutting.
“Your self–importance is astounding–utter stupidity with no self–awareness.”
Nana’s face cycled through red, white, and finally, purple with rage. She wanted to rebuke me, but the words caught in her throat. The expression on her face was priceless.
