Chapter262.
Excellent. Then I’d show them what a real power play looked like!
My wolf snarled, a thrill of anticipation coursing through me. I casually pulled out the chair at the head of the Silvermoon Pack Council table and sat down, sharply asking,
“Why aren’t the others here?” My voice was icy, laced with the potent scent of my alpha dominance.
The HR deputy’s heart pounded; his eyes finally met mine, the heiress of the Miller family they’d always underestimated. But remembering Mason’s mental message, he casually said, “They said they’re delayed by urgent matters. They’ll arrive later.”
‘Later?” My tone rose. “Are they truly late, or do they simply not wish to come?” Of course, they weren’t coming! Mason had mentally instructed them to make things difficult, to prove that even if I took over Fire Pack, I couldn’t lead effectively.
Jerry, the director, said evasively, “Miss Miller, you’ve misunderstood. They might truly have something…”
“Jerry,” I interrupted, my tone turning glacial.“You’ve been with Fire Pack for a long time. You should know the rules about lateness to council meetings.”
A wave of my alpha presence washed over him.
Mason, an obsessive–compulsive healer, valued rules above all else. Lateness meant punishment, even banishment–all written in the ancient Pack laws!
When Mason led, no one dared be late, as evidenced by the swift dismissal of a past finance director. But he hadn’t expected me to enforce those same rules.
Jerry hesitated.
“Miss Miller, they are all senior members of the Pack, and they work hard. They might really…”
“You don’t need to explain for them,” I interrupted again. “Each wolf is responsible for their actions.
Send a mental message to those absent, ordering them to the council chamber within three minutes. Those who don’t arrive forfeit their place within the Pack!”
My wolf bared its teeth; this was my pack now.
Jerry turned, shocked, to the management director; he too had received Mason’s message!
But the management director remained silent, his head bowed. My loyal pack members mirrored my will.
Jerry was left with no choice.
“Miss Miller,” he said, ‘you haven’t been involved in Pack management. You don’t know that they are the core elite.
Dismissing them all with a single command… how will the Pack function? Isn’t that too rash? He spoke cautiously, but inside, he cursed me as a clueless, spoiled pup!
I smiled mockingly. “We can simply promote from within. Since the HR director isn’t present, you, as his deputy, are promoted to director.” My wolf chuckled; this was pure, delicious power.
Jerry’s heart leaped! A director position!
The high–ranking positions within the pack were limited; he’d been stuck for years. My words offered a lifeline, a chance to rise.
