Chapter279.
“That’s it? Mason’s voice, sharp through the comm–talon, echoed in my mind.
My weakness? Grayson? My wolf scoffed.
What a ludicrous assessment!
“Huh?” Dustin was stunned.
Shouldn’t Alpha Miller be thrilled by this “news” and use it against me?
He wanted to elaborate on my feelings for Grayson, but Mason impatiently ended the connection

He needed more proof!
Maybe he could use it to destroy me.
*Foolish pup. My wolf growled silently.
He pocketed his comm–talon, already fantasizing about surpassing the aging Beta Welch and becoming the Fire Clan’s leader.
He swaggered away, blissfully unaware of the intricate web of surveillance I’d woven throughout the Spark Clan territory. Every movement within the clan was under my watchful gaze. His comm–talon conversation was already recorded.
The moment he contacted Mason, Fire Clan’s surveillance systems sprang to life, capturing every word.

“Alpha Smith, I almost couldn’t control Ms. Miller. Only when she learned of your investment and that dismissing that hateful Dustin might cause you financial losses did she calm down!
Ms. Miller was worried about your silver coins! Even though you don’t care about such trifling sums.”
“Ms. Miller knew Alpha Mason would send a spy, so she planned to feed him false information, yet she still angrily dismissed Dustin! She didn’t want you to be harmed, even though you are unaware of it!”
Her paws flew across the data–pad; I thought she was simply taking notes, oblivious to the second signal originating from her device. In my past life, Faye had been my greatest ally.
I had initially assumed Dustin left behind a listening device, hence the second signal. So, I’d proceeded with my plan to release misinformation.

“Ms. Miller knew her plan was compromised, that the message couldn’t be sent, yer she persisted. She even removed those who could deliver the message; Ms. Miller planned this for a long time! My heart aches for her.”
In reality, this plan formed after discovering Alpha Mason’s return. But Faye wouldn’t report it that way, she needed Grayson to kee
