Chapter278.
Just a Faye though she couldn’t stop me, a flicker of something else reason, perhaps–crossed my eyes.
The key call radiating from my wolf began to recede. Faye let out a relieved sigh.
My initial impedive rage at Dustin, furled by my concern for Grayson, was tempered by the reality of his investment in the Fire Clan
“Yes, Grzywo“, my wolf conceded, a grudging acknowledgment of my feelings.
Dustin, shaken by my earlier display, was now visibly relieved by the shift in my demeanor. His eyes dared around, a smug smile creeping onto his lips, a calculating glint in his eyes. My wolf sensed his deception.
He thinks he’s won.
I let the smirk play on my lips.
I activated my comm–talon, sending Dustin a message.
It contained his flight details to the Sunstone Territory, along with a snapshot of him and his she–wolf companion in a Sunstone inn.
Dustin, convinced he had me, the spoiled princess, under his thumb, brazenly activated his own comm–talon in the midst of the council meeting.
“See, the Fire Clan can’t function without me. Even during a council meeting, I’m getting messages from wolves wanting to discuss
hunts…
Before he could finish, he stood abruptly, his chair scraping harshly against the stone floor.
All eyes turned to him, but he ignored them, his gaze fixed on the comm–talon screen displaying the image and flight details.
My voice, cold and sharp as winter ice, cut through the room. “If you have personal matters to attend to, deal with them outside. Don’t waste everyone’s time.”
Dustin looked up sharply; I knew everything! I knew his trip to the Sunstone Territory wasn’t a hunt, but a rendezvous! Now that I was dismissing him, he had to leave! To the other wolves, it looked like I’d forced his hand; he had lost the power struggle.
His face paled. I stared at him, devoid of any warmth.
My wolf reveled in his discomfort.
“Dustin, is there anything else you wish to say?”
I smirked, certain he wouldn’t dare.
Dustin’s face shifted from pale to a furious red; he snatched his notes and stormed out of the meeting chamber.
“Let’s continue the council meeting.”
I had easily dismissed him, preventing him from hearing further strategy discussions and foiling his attempts to pass information to
Mason!
Outside, Dustin quickly contacted Mason. I’d humiliated him; he would seek revenge!
Mason answered swiftly. His irritated growl echoed through the comm–talon-
“What is Isabella doing?”

Dustin swallowed. He’d been expelled from the council meeting and hadn’t heard anything! He couldn’t admit that. He lowered his voice, trying to sound important.
“Alpha Miller, I’ve discovered Isabella’s weakness.”
Mason, frustrated by my stubbornness, was intrigued.
“What weakness?”
Dustin quickly recounted how I’d lost control in the meeting.
“She cares deeply about Grayson.
The mere mention of Grayson’s ineptitude set her off like a cornered wolf!”
Mason’s grip tightened on his comm–talon.
A nameless rage surged through him. He wasn’t sure whether it was Dustin’s stupidity or the fact the Grayson that angered him.
