Chapter291.
Preston’s expression darkened, his wolf clearly agitated.
“What nonsense are you talking about!” he snapped, his wolf’s anger palpable.
Emily was taken aback.
Her wolf, used to manipulating others, was momentarily thrown off balance.
She noticed Preston’s companion smirking, a knowing glint in her eyes. Her wolf sensed a trap.
“You’re a flashy she–wolf, so you see flashy she–wolves everywhere, right, little girl?” the woman retorted, her light brown eyes locking with Emily’s. Her wolf’s voice was sharp, its claws extended. “The social atmosphere these days is simply fantastic, isn’t it? How can a she–wolf like you, who violated the ancient pack laws by harming her brother, still be among us? You should be banished!”
The woman then leveled a cold gaze at Mason.
Her wolf’s message was clear, a thinly veiled threat.
“Oh, and how could I forget? Some dim–witted he–wolves only see flashy she–wolves as powerful alphas, pampering them endlessly.”
She turned her back on Emily and Mason, her gaze filled with disdain.
Her wolf was making a strategic move, using Emily to achieve her own goals.
“I initially agreed to this blood bond with my grandfather because of your looks, but now I find you utterly boring… let’s call off the engagement, Preston. I don’t like weak he–wolves.”
Her wolf’s words were a dagger.
Preston panicked, his wolf clearly disoriented. He grabbed the woman’s hand, his earlier anger replaced by desperate appeasement.
“Tina, don’t listen to her nonsense! She’s just here to sow discord! You can see for yourself, she’s not worth a damn. How could you doubt me because of her few words?” His wolf was scrambling to regain control.
Seeing his pleas fail, he turned on Emily with a furious glare. His wolf was lashing out.
“What’s your name… never mind! It doesn’t matter! You, apologize to Tina immediately! Mason! Look at the trash you brought! Is she trying to ruin me?!”
His wolf was clearly threatened.
Preston’s frantic glances toward Mason revealed his desperation. Mason sensed something was amiss but was also displeased with Preston’s arrogant attitude. His wolf felt a mixture of irritation and pity,
“Preston, I came to offer a toast out of respect for your father, but that doesn’t give you the right to insult my sister!”
Mason’s wolf was asserting its dominance, even in a moment of uncertainty.
Preston seemed to think Mason had lost his mind.
His wolf was incredulous.
“Mason, are you short of sisters? Don’t you have Isabella? How did another sister pop up? Oh, since she’s your sister, good! Have your sister apologize to Tina! Now!”
His wolf’s desperation was becoming comical.
My wolf could almost taste his panic.

“Impossible!” Mason grabbed Emily’s hand, ready to leave. His wolf felt a flash of anger.
He couldn’t allow Emily to be humiliated.
At that moment, I approached.
My wolf had been watching, assessing the situation.
Its focus was entirely on the brown–eyed she–wolf.
The game had shifted, and my wolf was ready to play.
“Tina, is your grandfather feeling better?” I asked, my voice calm and steady. My wolf’s voice was even, powerful, and strangely soothing.
The tension shifted; all eyes were on me now.
