Chapter292.
“Isabella, you’re here too,” the brown–eyed she–wolf’s expression softened.“Thank you for the blood–binding potion; he’s much
better!”
“Potion? What potion?”
Mason, his wolf’s growl rumbling low in his chest, looked both puzzled and betrayed.
He’d always been the one I sought out for advice on herbal remedies; when had I become someone worthy of thanks?
He was a healer! I knew far less than he did!
Suddenly, Mason didn’t want to leave. He looked at the brown–eyed she–wolf, his voice raising.“Ms. Green, what ails your grandfather? My pack’s apothecary holds centuries of knowledge; perhaps we hold the cure you need.”
Tina looked at him with barely concealed contempt.“I’m not foolish enough to trust a pup like you.”
Mason, publicly humiliated, his wolf snarling in frustration, clenched his fists. He looked at me.
“Isabella! You’re growing too bold! Just because you’ve learned a little, you think you can use pack members as test subjects? You may not care about your life, but the Silvermoon Pack does!”
Grayson stepped closer, his expression cold.
“Rest assured, whoever wants to harm her will have to answer to me; the Silvermoon Pack holds no sway over her.”
“Grayson! Do you know what she’s done to Emily? You’re protecting her… you’re enabling her!” Mason roared. His wolf bared its teeth, snapping at the perceived betrayal. He then scolded me, his ed with fury.
“Isabella! Do you know what Grayson is like? Do you know the age he comes from, how cunning he is? You think he truly cares for you, right? Don’t be surprised when he abandons you!”
My own wolf whimpered at the sting of his words. I wanted to ask if it wasn’t my own brothers who were abandoning me.
Before I could speak, Grayson, with a cold smile, asked Mason, his own wolf’s confidence radiating off him like heat,
“Well, if I truly fail, I might just let Isabella go. But our Isabella is worth quite a bit. Mason, I’ve spent vast sums on my sister. What about you?”
*Vast sums…* the sheer amount of resources spent echoed in my wolf’s mind.
Emily, her own wolf seething with jealousy, gritted her teeth.
Mason was a good brother, but when it came to resources… he was all talk. Never mind; it wasn’t the time to think about this. Seeing Mason about to back down, Emily quickly tried to mediate.
“Mason, it seems Isabella is thriving. That’s good, so you don’t need to worry about her anymore…”
“Who’s worried about her!” Mason glared at me, his wolf’s fury barely contained.“She’s living a lavish life, but look at the mess she’s made for the Silvermoon Pack!”
My wolf cowered, hurt and angry at the injustice of it all.
