Chapter319.
“They are necessary!” I insisted firmly. My wolf’s protective instincts were on high alert.
The Healer glanced awkwardly at Grayson, sensing the underlying tension.
Grayson, looking resigned, said, “Just do what she says.” His voice was calm, but a hint of weariness laced it.
His wolf seemed to understand my anxiety.
“Okay,” the Healer replied, starting to write up the orders.
There were many tests; and I patiently stayed with Grayson through each one, checking the results as they came in. My wolf remained watchful, its senses heightened.
After drawing blood from him multiple times, he joked, “This is like a blood donation; you better make me some nourishing broth when we get
back.”
I clenched my paws, anxiously waiting, responding absentmindedly, “Okay.”
My simple reply seemed detached, but Grayson knew I would definitely cook when we got home. Remembering how I had woken up early that morning, his heart softened again.
“You don’t have to cook yourself; just tell the she–wolves to do it.”
I nodded again. Grayson’s smile gradually faded; what was I worried about? My wolf sensed his confusion.
Once the test results were in, we entered the consultation room together. The attending Healer flipped through the reports and then smiled at us, looking relaxed.
“Alpha Smith is in excellent health; all indicators are within normal ranges, even better than his peers.”
His words should have been reassuring, but my wolf remained unsettled.
Closing the report, he smiled at me, “Your brother’s physical condition is comparable to that of a prime alpha; there’s no need for concern.”
He said the most reassuring words, but hearing that, my tense nerves didn’t relax at all. I still anxiously asked, “Are you sure? Is there any chance the equipment malfunctioned? Or that some hidden issues might not show up?”
My wolf was relentless in its worry.
The Healer’s professional smile faltered slightly.“I assure you, even if you went to the most skilled Healer in the entire Silvermoon Pack, the results would be the same.“.
“But…”
My wolf whimpered, its unease mirroring mine.
I bit my lip, unease flickering in my eyes. In my past life, I only knew Grayson as “the rival of my brothers,” never paying much attention to him, knowing almost nothing about his true nature.
Now, I had no idea what he had gone through in his previous life. Every time I thought about it, a wave of panic surged within me, my mirroring the fear.
I tried to ask more questions, but my paw was grasped by Grayson.
“Isabella, the Healer’s diagnosis is clear; I’m healthy.” His voice was gentle, but firm.
I persisted.
“There must be something they missed…” My wolf refused to accept the simple answer.
The Healer, moved by my persistence, re–examined the report and shook his head.“There’s nothing wrong; your brother is healthy.” But his words didn’t ease my
