“I’ll prepare a fake diagnosis report for you all… just say the medicine from the Obsidian territory caused problems… the louder you make it, the better! I want to ruin Luna Isabella’s reputation!”

Each word was a poisoned dart, striking at Jared’s very core.

His wolf roared silently; the deception was thick enough to choke on. He realized Emily wasn’t as innocent as he’d thought; he’d seen glimpses of her selfishness, but he’d never imagined this level of malice.

To harm me, she was willing to stoop to such depths.

Jared stood in the shadows, frozen, only his chest rising and falling rapidly, his wolf’s rage a simmering volcano beneath his skin.

Emily gave further instructions, hung up, and left the corner.

As she turned, she spotted Jared standing not far away.

Her carefully constructed facade crumbled. The cold, smug expression on her face instantly froze, her pupils dilated, and her complexion turned pale! How long had he been there? What had he heard?

Jared looked at her impassively, wishing he could expose her right then and there, lock her up so she couldn’t hurt me! But he couldn’t; Alpha Andrew and Alpha Mason wouldn’t allow it!

He had to tread carefully, his wolf a coiled spring of barely contained fury.

He asked coldly, his voice devoid of emotion.

“Who let you come here?”

Hearing this, Emily realized he might have just arrived and hadn’t heard her words, and she breathed a sigh of relief. Immediately, she lowered her head, her eyes quickly reddening, adopting a pitiful expression.

Her wolf was a master of deception, a chameleon shifting to fit its environment.

“Alpha Mason brought me here…” She sobbed softly, her voice broken.

The performance was flawless, the pheromones perfectly calibrated to evoke sympathy.

“I wanted to see Alpha Caleb, but… I know you’re still angry and don’t want me to see him…” She looked at Jared with tear–filled eyes, quickly lowering her head.

“I’m afraid of upsetting you, so I waited here for Alpha Mason… we have misunderstandings; until we resolve them, and I get your forgiveness, I can hold back my longing for Alpha Caleb… I won’t see him.” She lowered her head sharply, tears splattering on the ground.

The tears were real, but the remorse was not.

“As long as I can see Alpha Caleb from a distance… that’s enough for me…” Her words were heartfelt, pleading, and utterly humble. If this were before, Jared would have felt an overwhelming sense of pity and would have immediately softened his heart to comfort her,
