Her wolf snarled, a primal fear gripping her. She slammed the comm–stone down.

Before she could process the shock, the chilling howls of the Pack’s enforcement division echoed outside, growing closer, finally halting at the entrance to the Miller family’s territory. Emily’s heart hammered against her ribs, her breath catching in her throat.

She opened the den door and saw a beta wolf from the Western District Enforcement Division standing at the threshold.

“Greetings, we are from the Western District Enforcement Division. We require the presence of Miss Carter. She is suspected of maliciously providing a pup with nuts, knowing of the pup’s allergy. Please accompany us to the council chamber for questioning.”

Another enforcement vehicle arrived, two more alphas emerging.

“Greetings, we are from the Provincial Enforcement Division. We have received a report from the Eastern Healing Circle in Washington. Miss Carter is suspected of buying and selling forged medical scrolls, fraud, and framing another she–wolf. Please accompany us for questioning.”

Boom! The weight of the accusations crashed down on Emily, her world tilting violently. Darkness threatened to consume her.
