Chapter384.
Emily’s face paled instantly. She shot a wary glance at Jared, who was still observing from the dungeon, then slammed the heavy iron dungeon door shut with a resounding clang, severing his line of sight.
“What’s happening now?”
Her assistant was near tears.“The Pack Council investigators are en route!”
“Don’t they know White & Beauty Apothecary is under the Silvermoon Pack?”
Why would they dare investigate her apothecary?!
She paused, realization hitting her hard. The Silvermoon Pack was influential. But the ShadowClan always held the upper hand!
It was “me“! It had to be me who’d influenced Grayson to do this!
This realization was like a chilling blast of winter wind; a shiver ran through Emily, her face turning ashen. No, she couldn’t simply wait here! She had to find Andrew! Only Andrew could save her!
Emily spun around, stumbling as she dashed toward the villa’s entrance, pulling out her communicator to contact Andrew. But as she opened the door, a sharp crack echoed. A yellowish–white substance struck her head with precision; egg yolk and shell, sticky and slimy, flowed down her fur.
Then, more eggs, rotten vegetables, and unidentified filth rained down on her.
“Ah-” Emily screamed, recoiling, slamming the door shut.
The substances were not only foul–smelling but also painful.
Outside, angry howls, cries, and the thuds of objects hitting the door blended into a chaotic uproar.
“Emily! You liar! Give me back my fur!”
“Heartless merchant! Using banned ingredients! You deserve to be ostracized!”
“Get out! Refund my silver!”
Emily checked the security monitor–outside the Silvermoon Pack estate, a sea of she–wolves and he–wolves surged forward. The influencers who’d been so friendly, calling her “Miss Carter,” were now bandaged, some showing raw, swollen, oozing wounds. They brandished banners with glaring red accusations.
Reporters snapped photos.
Emily staggered back, tripped over a stool, and fell hard. Her head spun; fear and anxiety filled her eyes. She was finished!
Footsteps sounded from the stairs. Mason, recently discharged from the healer’s den and still weak, was drawn by the commotion, frowning.
“Emily? What’s wrong?” He hurried over.

Emily was covered in filth. He grimaced, suppressing his disgust for her sake, and helped her up. She clung to him like a lifeline, clutching his waist, her body trembling. The shouting and banging continued outside. Mason frowned. “What’s going on? What are those she wolves and he–wolves doing?”
He reached for the door, but Emily gripped him tightly, preventing him from opening it.
“Mason, no!”
Mason listened carefully, realizing they claimed the apothecary’s products were faulty, and they sought justice.
Her voice was choked with sobs, sounding utterly pitiful and wronged.“Mason, I don’t want to suspect Isabella, but besides her, no one could orchestrate this kind of scene under the Silvermoon Pack’s protection…”
Just as before, she shifted all blame to me without hesitation.
Seeing her distress and hearing her words, Mason’s anger towards me flared again.
“Isabella!”
He helped Emily to her feet, about to comfort her when her communicator shrilled again. Emily glanced at the screen; it was her assistant. She didn’t want Mason to hear about the apothecary’s troubles, but as she hesitated, Mason said coldly, “Answer it. Let’s see what other tricks Isabella has up her sleeve!”
Emily bit her lip, feigning reluctance, then answered.
Her assistant’s panicked voice poured out.
“Miss Carter! It’s terrible! The videos of the influencers‘ damaged fur are going viral! Many customers who used our products report discomfort, redness, itching, and even severe allergic reactions!”
“Our distribution points are overwhelmed with returns!
Warehouse reports show returns exceeding 60% of total sales–and climbing!”
Sixty percent returns! Not only no profit but mounting losses!
These words slammed into Mason’s heart. The relief he’d felt at the Jade Porcelain Balm’s strong sales vanished, replaced by icy fear. If they didn’t make money, how would he redeem the Silvermoon Pack shares he’d pledged? If Andrew found out….
Mason felt a wave of dizziness; the world spun. His already weak body swayed violently; his face turned deathly pale. He reached out instinctively for support but found none. His body went limp; he nearly collapsed.
Emily instinctively reached out to support him. Mason was tall and strong; now, completely weakened, his weight pressed down on her. Her slender arm couldn’t hold him. It was too heavy. Lifting him was futile.
Without hesitation, she let go. Mason lost his support and fell backward.
“Thump!”
His head struck the sharp corner of a nearby table.
Blood seeped instantly, trailing down his pale face. He didn’t even groan; he’d lost consciousness.

“Mason!” Emily cried, rushing to him. The communicator call was still active.
Her assistant’s frantic, tearful voice came through again.
“Miss Carter! The quality inspectors are here! They have documents and are sealing off our warehouse!”
Emily’s heart constricted. She glanced at the bleeding, unconscious Mason, then at the security monitor showing the raging crowd outside, shouting curses at her.
She forced composure, snapping at the communicator.
“Don’t panic! Our formula is perfectly safe; it can withstand inspection!” Her tone was confident, but inside, doubt flickered.
The assistant stammered, “Okay, I… I understand… then… when will you be here? Everyone’s waiting for you to take charge!”
Emily looked at the angry crowd on the monitor and then at Mason, unconscious and bleeding Go out? Going out now was suicide. She couldn’t go out!
She replied vaguely, “I understand, I’m dealing with something; I’ll be there soon.”
Before the assistant could respond, she hung up.
Emily stared at Mason, bleeding profusely on the floor, biting her finger. In the end, she didn’t summon the healers. She was afraid that if the healers came and she opened the door, those lunatics outside would storm in
too.
