Chapter391.
“You’ll live, slowly tortured, paying for your crimes with every second left,” Grayson said with cruel nonchalance. His wolf’s predatory scent intensified, a chilling presence in the room. Mason felt a chill run through him, a a deep sense of dread washing over him. Looking at Grayson’s cruel smile, he experienced true fear for the first time. He couldn’t live, he couldn’t die. This was Grayson’s intended ending for him. He wanted to fight back, but the nightmare crushed all his will to survive. His wolf whimpered, defeated.
Andrew, hearing that Grayson had visited Mason, immediately left his office, heading to the hospital. Mason hated him and Emily now, but sacrificing Mason had been a necessary evil; he couldn’t let Emily go to jail.
But before he left the office, his assistant rushed in.“It’s terrible, Mr. Miller. There’s significant change in Miller Group’s shares!”
According to pack regulations, changes exceeding 5% of equity must be publicly disclosed through the Howlnet. Andrew grabbed the tablet, scanning the announcement. “Miller Group Major Shareholder Change Notice…” His gaze swept swiftly across the document, finally settling on the signature:“Isabella Miller.”
“How did the shares end up in her name? Investigate immediately!” The report came back fast–shares originally registered to Mason were now in my hands!
“That Mason!” A cold fury ignited in Andrew’s chest, spreading through his limbs. His face darkened like storm clouds as he stormed out. His wolf snarled, a low growl of rage.
In the hospital’s intensive care unit, sterile smells and steady beeping filled the air. Mason lay in bed, his face pale, his eyes closed, several life–support tubes attached to him; he looked like a soulless husk, lifeless.
His wolf was barely clinging to life.

The ward door burst open, and Andrew strode in, radiating cold menace. His grim gaze unresponsive Mason. He approached the bed, grabbing Mason’s hospital gown. “Mason! You gave your shares to Isabella! Don’t you know she’s abandoned the Miller family, sided with Grayson?! Shares in her hands are no different than in his!” Mason, weak as he was, struggled to breathe under the grip. His eyelids fluttered open, and he forced a bitter, mocking smile–more defiance than humor. But to Andrew, it was a provocation!
His wolf bared its teeth in a silent snarl.
Andrew’s shouts continued. “To get revenge on me and Emily, you gave your shares to Isabella! Do you know what you’re doing?” My 5%, Mason’s 10%, and the 20% from my mother. Andrew’s eyes were bloodshot. “Isabella now controls 35% of the shares!” Adding the 25% of publicly traded shares, over 60% of the shares were no longer under his control! This was an extremely dangerous number.
Isabella… Hearing that name, a faint glimmer flickered in Mason’s hollow eyes. A weak, almost relieved smile cracked his cracked lips. He suddenly understood; that scheme had been orchestrated by Grayson. But it was great that the shares went to me.

“You want to see Miller Group fall into other hands?” Mason coughed violently, his breath weak, almost causing him to pass out. But Andrew didn’t let up; he held onto Mason’s collar. Mason didn’t care, he smiled, using all his strength to produce a weak, raspy voice, broken and fragmented.
“Then… you should ask your dear sister… Emily… she manipulated me… to start a company… I had no money..” The rest was unspoken. He’d used the money from his pledged shares to start the company Emily had always wanted. Exhausted, he closed his eyes, breathing shallowly.
His wolf was fading, but a final spark of defiance remained.
Andrew’s expression darkened further; his gaze was complex. Mason expected to be beaten. He knew Andrew; Miller Group was more important than anything. Losing the shares meant punishment, maybe death. Then Andrew would go after Emily, and she’d be cast out. That’d be his revenge.
However, Andrew suddenly released his grip, throwing Mason’s collar away. He didn’t look at his incapacitated brother again, leaving without another glance. Only the machines beeped steadily, and Mason’s faint breaths filled the room.
He opened his eyes again, a faint spark rekindled. Andrew’s reaction had been strange. With such a significant loss in Miller Group’s shares, he hadn’t immediately confronted Emily or reprimanded her excessively. This wasn’t like Andrew, who valued Miller Group above all else. His attitude towards Emily was strangely…protective, almost indulgent. This unusual favoritism was definitely abnormal! He had to tell me. He tried to move, reach for the pack–comm, but his body was leaden, limbs useless. He couldn’t even sit up, let alone reach the pack–comm. Then a caregiver entered the ward. This caregiver wasn’t there to provide comfort; she was there to monitor his condition, ensuring he wouldn’t die so easily. Mason used every ounce of his strength, forcing out a raspy voice, dry as sandpaper.
“Call… call Jared… to see me… I need to talk to him.” The caregiver was Grayson’s person; her job was to keep Mason alive. The message was passed on. Grayson barely paused before arranging the meeting. The two discarded sons of the Miller family wanted to meet; then let them do it! He wanted to see what they were up to.
Soon, the ward door opened. Jared entered; looking tired and pale. Seeing his emaciated brother, almost unrecognizable, his expression was complex. A mixture of past resentment and present compassion filled his heart, but his face remained cold and distant.
Mason gathered his last strength, lips cracked and dry, voice barely audible:“Jared, tell Isabella… Andrew’s… attitude towards Emily is strange… very strange… tell her to be careful!”
