Chapter392.
Mason didn’t know exactly what to warn me about, but he felt that Andrew’s unusual indulgence of Emily was unsettling. This feeling gnawed at him, wouldn’t let him rest, and he just had to tell me. His wolf howled a silent. warning within him, a deep unease resonating with the tremor in his fading strength.
After saying that, it was like he’d used up his last bit of strength. His eyes closed, and the heart monitor started screaming alarms.
“Mason!” Jared’s face paled instantly.
His wolf mirrored his fear, sensing the catastrophic drop in Mason’s life force. He instinctively rushed forward, pressing the emergency call button on the bedside table with one hand, gripping Mason’s hand with the other.
“Doctor! This patient has no heartbeat!” Jared yelled at the door, panic creeping into his voice before he even realized it. His wolf whimpered, a primal scream trapped in his throat.
“Mason, don’t sleep, the healer will be here soon.” Then he gripped Mason’s hand tight.“Mason, don’t sleep, the healer’s coming.”
Mason weakly raised a hand, like he wanted to hold onto Jared, signaling no need for healers. He felt relief, like he was finally free.
His wolf, finally stilled, ceased its frantic struggle.
Jared, however, held his cold hand tightly, “Mason, think about Isabella! Although she’s ignoring us, we still owe her! Even if she ignores us, we can still do a lot for her, make amends!” He pressed Mason’s hand to his forehead. His wolf urged him, a desperate plea echoing Mason’s fading consciousness. “We owe her so much; an apology isn’t enough.”
“Make amends to Isabella.” This phrase jolted Mason’s fading will to live. His wolf stirred, a renewed spark of purpose igniting in his fading heart. Yes, he couldn’t die. He still owed her*. He had to live, watch Emily pay the price, and make amends to me. A faint spark of survival flickered in his withered heart.
Healers and nurses rushed in, pushing Jared aside and initiating emergency resuscitation. Seeing the lines on the monitor stabilizing, Jared finally breathed a sigh of relief. His wolf finally relaxed, the tension leaving his muscles. But how would he relay Mason’s message to me? Jared suddenly looked up.
The next moon cycle was beginning soon; perhaps he could see me then.
I kept a low profile at the Silvermoon Pack academy. With my skills, I didn’t even have to show up. But last life, because of Emily, I never finished my studies. This time, I just wanted to live life right and graduate.
After a quiet two–month winter dormancy, the academy buzzed again. Young wolves full of hope for the new semester swarmed the halls.
I dressed simply, blending into the crowd. But despite my low–key act, after two months of chaos, someone recognized me.
Just as someone tried to greet me, a flashy moonstone–studded chariot parked nearby, attracting attention.

Emily got out. Her fur was meticulously groomed, her attire the latest fashion; she attempted to maintain her elegant, high–ranking image.
However, the gazes she received were no longer envious, but judgmental.
“Look, it’s Emily.”
“She dares to come to the academy?”
“Plagiarizing designs, making such a big fuss, her nerve is unbelievable.”
“Right? Her admission was because she harmed her brother, how did the academy not expel her?”
“I heard the Miller Pack pressured the academy.”
“Power makes the world go round.”
They glanced at me, apologizing politely, “Isabella, we’re not talking about you.”
I smiled, casually, “It’s fine, you weren’t insulting me.”
“Isabella is the true heiress of the Miller Pack, yet she’s so humble. The adopted she–wolf, however, acts superior.”
“I wonder who the true Miss Miller is.”
Hearing the comments, Emily’s smile froze. She gripped her purse, forced her back straight, ignoring the harsh whispers as she walked toward me.
“Isabella…”
Before I could say anything, my classmates spoke up
for
“She harmed Isabella so much, they’re not even close, and she still acts so familiar?”
“If she didn’t act familiar, how would she show her ‘generosity‘ and ‘kindness‘? If Isabella doesn’t like her, she can pretend to be hurt, create another drama, making everyone blame Isabella for being mean.”
I heard that and laughed.
My wolf chuckled, a low rumble in my chest.
“You don’t need to act in front of me. Your tricks are transparent, except to the Miller Pack – Jared and Mason already see your true colors. You can only act in front of Andrew. Don’t waste your effort on others.”
The surrounding classmates laughed.
Emily bit her lip, tears welling up in her eyes. This wasn’t an act; she was truly angry and close to tears! But she held back; she wasn’t trying to create a pitiful image, she was afraid the onlookers would mock her further! She forced a smile, “I genuinely want to make amends with you. If you don’t want to, I’ll go register for classes.” I raised an eyebrow watching her walk away. Even strangers at the academy saw through her act. How could Andrew not see it? My wolf snarled, a silent judgment on Emily’s pathetic display. My lashes lowered, casting a shadow over my eyes, concealing my thoughts.

Though surrounded by wolves, Lucy spotted me through the crowd. Cupping her hands around her mouth, she shouted, “Isabella!”
I turned to see Lucy, my face lighting up with a genuine smile.
“Lucy,”
