Chapter394.
I looked into Lucy’s hopeful eyes, thought for a moment, then nodded. My wolf sensed the weight of her hope and the genuine need of the pups in the mountain village.
“I can invest, but don’t try to get me to work for you.” My wolf added a silent caveat: I’ll support the cause, but I’m not your pupper Lucy hugged me tightly, “Beautiful and kind Isabella, thank you for helping those pups!” Her wolf mirrored her joy, a wave of gratitude washing over her.
I agreed partly for my friend, but mostly because, in my past life, Alexander would turn Emily into an internet celebrity and push her into showbiz. Though this time things changed a lot and Emily’s reputation tanked, if she still tried the same old path, starting a media company would be a huge roadblock to her comeback. My wolf sharpened its senses, plotting a strategic counter–move against Emily. Lucy felt a weight lifted and happily dragged me to class.
Meanwhile, Emily walked into the classroom. Once surrounded by admirers, now it was like a vacuum around her–no one sat near her. She bit her lip and quietly pulled out her scrolls. But after relying on me all these years, she couldn’t understand a single word of the lecture. Her wolf whimpered, its pride bruised and wounded.
After morning classes, Emily was about to leave when a student entered.
“Emily, Professor Burke wants to see you.”
Emily’s wolf felt a chill, a premonition of impending trouble.
Emily’s paw froze. Before, Professor Burke’s summons were always praise. Now, she felt a surge of anxiety.
“Okay, thank you.” Emily had always played the sweet, kind, gentle high–ranking she–wolf act for her image. Back then, her classmates thought she was just nice.
Now, she was even more polite, but the student snorted and went back to her friends, who whispered and pointed at her. Their wolves sensed her weakness, their whispers laced with disdain.
“We thought she was perfect, but it was all fake. Even her grades were from Isabella; she used Isabella’s work as her own. How dare she?”
“She had a bunch of blind brothers spoiling her!”
“Did you see the online rumors about Emily and Andrew…”
Emily bit her lip, almost drawing blood! She couldn’t take it and bolted. She arrived at Professor Burke’s office, took a deep breath, then pushed. the door open.
“Professor.” She forced a sweet smile, trying to act as she used to. Her wolf pleaded for acceptance, for a return to the old order.
Professor Burke merely glanced at her, ignoring her, continuing his work. Emily clenched her fists. He hadn’t treated her like this before! Her wolf snarled, its pride wounded.
Just as she was about to speak, the door knocked again, and I walked in. My wolf assessed the situation, its senses alert.
I saw Emily but ignored her, turning to Professor Burke.
“Professor, you wanted to see me.”
Seeing me, Professor Burke’s face lit up with warmth, the exact opposite of how he treated Emily. His wolf recognized my presence, sensing my power and influence.
“Isabella, you’re here.” Professor Burke said, pulling out a form.“Here’s the matter–the academy has a spot for the International Young Designers Exchange Competition, and I think you’re perfect for it. I want to recommend you.”
His words clearly reached Emily. Her face twisted instantly–that spot had been promised to her! But now, right in front of her, Professor Burke was handing it over to me.
Her wolf howled in silent fury, a bitter taste of defeat filling her mouth. It was a straight–up slap in the face!
She clenched her jaw tight, shooting me a venomous glare. Her wolf bared its fangs, its hatred palpable.
I shook my head, “Thank you for your kindness, Professor.”
Professor Burke was surprised–was I really turning it down? Emily had used many of my designs for competitions; wouldn’t I want to participate in a competition under my own name?
“Why?” He asked, clearly thinking I knew the value of this competition.
I smiled gently, “I’m the chief designer at Smith Clan’s design department; participating in this competition isn’t suitable. And I don’t need these competitions to prove myself to anyone.”
My wolf exuded confidence, its strength radiating outwards.

I only needed to produce better works and let results speak for themselves.
Professor Burke felt regret; I would have definitely won. He wasn’t sure who to recommend now
I caught his disappointment and decided to steer the situation, “Professor, you could give Serena a chance. I remembered Serena–she was a hard worker back in school but always in my shadow. After I went to jail for Emily and stopped producing good work, Serena suddenly rose up. becoming a rising star in the design world. My wolf recognized Serena’s potential, her unwavering dedication.
“Really?” Professor Burke considered this. He nodded, “Okay, I’ll listen to you, I’ll give her the spot.*
Professor Burke was giving me a favor. He’d overlooked a good talent, and now I had grown; he couldn’t have a teacher–student relationship, but he needed to maintain contact. Thinking of this, he glared at Emily.
I caught that look and smirked a little. My wolf reveled in Emily’s humiliation.
“It’s our honor to have such a good professor.”
Professor Burke was pleased, “Isabella, could you ask Serena to come?”
I was just about to find her, nodding, “Okay.” Since I’d decided to start a media company, to hinder Emily, I couldn’t just cultivate Lucy. What if Emily didn’t confront her, didn’t follow the same old path, abandoned short videos, and chose another route? I had to block all her paths. Serena was one of my choices. If Emily wanted to rehabilitate her image, this path needed to be blocked. My wolf plotted, its claws sharpening.
I nodded at Professor Burke and left. As I opened the door, a chorus of chatter hit me-
No sooner had I stepped out than a swarm of design students surrounded me.
“It’s really Isabella! I knew it! Are you coming back to the design institute?”
“Isabella, I have a question about color collision design…”
“Isabella, what do you think of my color scheme?”
“Isabella, the clothes from Smith Clan’s show were amazing, could you talk about the inspiration?”
The students bombarded me with questions, and as I closed the door, their voices cut off abruptly.
Inside, Emily heard it all, jealousy gnawing at her like a venomous snake.
Her wolf howled in frustrated rage. Once, she was the one surrounded by students seeking advice! Now, all attention was on me! The moment the door closed, Professor Burke’s warm smile vanished; he looked coldly at Emily. His wolf sensed her desperation, her weakness.
“For your own good, you should consider dropping out voluntarily.”
Emily bit her lip; her nails dug into her palm! They were trying to expel her without offending the Miller Clan!
Her wolf fought against the tide, refusing to surrender. She wasn’t about to give up and leave school like that.
Suddenly, she looked up, “Professor, I can donate a library.”
A desperate, last–ditch attempt to salvage her situation.
