Chapter458.
The flickering flames illuminated Grayson’s deep, unreadable eyes.
Cradled within the circle of his arms, I still carried the faint, clean scent of my moonpetal blossoms, a scent subtly contrasting with the acrid smell of smoke from the burning brambles.
My wolf felt a thrill of triumph mingled with a touch of apprehension.
Grayson watched the flames slowly consume the vegetation surrounding the neighboring villa, then glanced down at me, a faint smile still playing on my lips.
His wolf acknowledged the transformation; his “little” sister was no longer the vulnerable pup, easily dismissed.
She had become a force to be reckoned with.
Just then, the heavy wooden door of the opposite villa burst open.
Julia, a powerful She–wolf of the Whispering Pines Pack, stumbled out, her fur matted, her eyes blazing.
She was utterly disheveled.
As soon as she emerged, her eyes locked onto Grayson and me, illuminated by the firelight.
Her wolf snarled, radiating fury.
Suddenly, Julia erupted into a piercing, grating howl.
‘Grayson! So impatient? So eager to move against me already?!” She howled, her body trembling, her eyes icy with malice.
Her wolf bared its fangs, ready to strike.
‘Isabella, did you witness this? Your brother’s methods are ruthless! Are you intimidated now?” To her, only Grayson possessed the strength and ruthlessness for such an action.
I let out a soft, derisive snort, quiet but crystal clear.
My wolf felt a surge of power.
‘I started the fire.”
Julia’s howl choked off abruptly, as if someone had seized her throat.
Her wolf recoiled in shock.
Her face froze, eyes wide with disbelief as she pointed at me.
‘You?”
Her
gaze raked over me, disbelief screaming in her howl.
‘You? Are you capable of such a deed?” In her mind, I was nothing but a clinging vine, dependent on Grayson’s protection.

She couldn’t comprehend such bold action.
The corner of my lips lifted, cold and sharp.
My wolf felt a fierce satisfaction.
“From now on, if you dare approach my brother again, if you dare trespass on our territory… don’t blame me for being far less restrained than I was today!” My voice was low and dangerous.
Julia finally snapped out of her shock.
She stared at me with venomous intensity, her wolf threatening a full assault.
In the distance, the distinctive howls of approaching emergency
vehicles grew louder.
Soon, several fire–teams arrived, their bright lights cutting through the night.
Firefighters moved efficiently, unfurling their hoses and directing powerful streams of water onto the blaze.
I had only wanted to remove Julia, to prevent her from influencing Grayson.
So, before initiating the fire, I had already alerted the Pack Council.
The fire was largely contained to the outlying vegetation.
Though the flames looked fierce, under the skilled intervention of the Pack’s fire–teams, it was quickly brought under control.
Julia’s newly acquired villa was in ruins, uninhabitable for the foreseeable future.
She trembled with rage, her chest heaving.
She furiously activated her comm–link, her voice sharp and demanding.
‘Andrew! Come at once!
Immediately! Come retrieve me!” Her wolf was a whirlwind of rage.
Listening beside her, my lips curled into an involuntary sneer.
Soon, a black vehicle screeched to a halt.
Andrew, a powerful Alpha, rushed out, approaching Julia, his head bowed low, his demeanor excessively subservient.
He surveyed the devastation, then quickly glanced towards Grayson and me, unharmed.
His expression darkened; his wolf sensed the shift in power dynamics.
Julia lifted her chin.
She deliberately used a commanding tone in front of me.
“What are you standing there for?
Hurry and open the vehicle door! You can’t even handle this trivial matter! Useless!” Her wolf’s arrogance was
