Chapter 51
“My life in the Miller pack was worse than yours; and I have to endure your flaunting and mockery everywhere.” I said, my voice loud enough for the surrounding students–wolves–to hear, engrossed as they were in the gossip.
My wolf felt a surge of righteous anger,
I didn’t… Emily weakly protested.
Her wolf whimpered, sensing the shift in power.
Tve been kicked out of the pack; so I don’t want to be involved in Jared’s Rune–stone team.
But you deliberately told me this; were you trying to rub salt in my wound?”
My claws extended slightly, a barely perceptible movement.
Emily’s eyes flickered; her expression innocent, “I didn’t think about it…”
I had been waiting for her to say that, smirking as I mocked, “Last time you insisted I watch the challenge, maybe you didn’t think much then.
But this time, coming to show off on purpose, and you still didn’t think much? Who would believe that? If you didn’t think much, then what’s the point of bringing your brain along? You know your hunting skills can’t hold up, so the clever top she–wolf persona is out the window? Now you’re trying to play the sweet, naive girl?”
Before she could respond, I continued, “Or do you want to say that pack loyalty doesn’t equal personal ambition? Have you forgotten that you set yourself up as North Territory’s most beautiful and cunning she–wolf with both high hunting prowess and pack loyalty?”
I’d effectively silenced her.
My wolf felt triumphant.
Emily felt a surge of frustration; I wasn’t this sharp or cunning before! Why was I so hard to deal with now? She looked around, seeing the wolves watching with amused expressions; she forced a smile.
“Isabella, you misunderstood me.
If
you don’t like me, I’ll just leave.”
After saying that, she covered her mouth, as if about to cry from anger, and ran out.
Her wolf was defeated, tail between its legs.
The wolves whispered as they watched Emily’s retreating figure leave the den.
“Her acting is superb; she made it seem like she was being bullied.”
“I thought she was gentle and kind, but she’s not.”
Three days later…

I sat in the mess hall with a bowl of seasoned rabbit in front of me.
I lowered my head to eat, the spicy flavor making my face flush, but it felt refreshing.
In the past, seasoned meats never appeared on the Miller pack’s table; Emily disliked them and wouldn’t allow
them.
Even if I ate it in my den or the mess hall, the smell would make her complain to my brothers, saying it affected
her.
They’d then forbid me from eating seasoned meat again, reminding me Marcus had died saving me; I should be considerate of Emily; saying eating less seasoned meat wouldn’t kill me!
