Andrew’s face twisted with barely concealed fury as he glared at me.
I let a smirk tug at my lips, my voice cutting through the tension in the room. “Now, those who agree to bid, please raise your hands.”
My own hand shot up the instant the words left my mouth.
Two others, eager to curry favor with me and clearly recognizing the promising potential of the territory, quickly followed suit.
I did the math in my head, and my smile broadened.
‘Do your combined stakes account for over six percent?”
Both of them nodded. Together, we’re at seven percent.”
The one who spoke looked a little sheepish.
I nodded. “Excellent. That brings us to 52 percent. Alright, the Silvermoon Group is officially participating in the bid. You all can continue your neeting. I’m leaving.”
Then, I walked out.
A heavy, stunned silence settled in the Council room the moment I was gone.
knew it wouldn’t be long before they started scrambling out of there, desperate to escape the Alpha tension I’d left behind.
A sharp, violent crash must have ripped through the suddenly empty room.
Once everyone had finally cleared out, Andrew, I knew, couldn’t suppress the fury boiling within him any longer. His arm swept across the table, ending files, ritual bowls, and quills crashing to the floor in a chaotic, deafening mess.
Isabella!”
He ground out my name, his chest heaving, his eyes blazing and streaked with red. I could feel his Alpha growl vibrating even through the thick walls.
He knew I was onto him.
He must have realized I knew everything.
Why else would I have waited until this precise moon–phase to reveal myself? How else could I have so perfectly cornered the Silvermoon Group, pushing them straight into the trap I’d meticulously designed?
Andrew, visibly frustrated, yanked at his collar and practically collapsed into his Alpha chair.
Just then, his Howlnet pad rang. Julia‘ flashed across the screen.
He didn’t want to answer, but thinking of the Miller family’s current predicament, he took a deep breath, pushing down the aversion he felt for Juha, and swiped to accept the call.
‘Hello”
‘I just finished my moon–bath at the sanctuary. Come pick me up.”
A flicker of disgust crossed Andrew’s eyes, but he forced a different tone. “I’m sorry, honey, I’m a little busy right now.”
‘So, Isabella checkmated you and you’re already useless? How pathetic!” I could almost hear the unconcealed disdain in Julia’s voice
He’d have heard it, I knew, his face probably darkening, but he wouldn’t have dared to growl back
“You know everything?” I imagined him asking, his voice low, trying to hide the disgust I knew he felt for her
“With such a huge commotion at the Silvermoon Council meeting, it would be hard not to know,” I pictured Julia replying, a soft laugh escaping her lips. It wouldn’t have held an ounce of sympathy, only the pure pleasure of watching the pack drama unfold.
‘Look at you, so pathetic. She just threw a wrench in your plans, and you’re acting like the moon has fallen?” Julia’s tone suddenly turned ice–cold.

‘Andrew, if this is all you’ve got, what makes you think you can ever beat my
brother?”
And I knew, those words, sharp and precise, had sliced straight through Andrew, hitting him right where it hurt his Alpha pride.
Meru
I could almost hear the fury in his voice, imagine his knuckles white as he bit out the words: “That territory was meant to screw over the Grant family! Now Isabella’s forced us to buy it ourselves–billions in losses. How do you expect me to stay calm?!”
“What’s there to panic about?”
Julia’s voice remained nonchalant.
“Council approval doesn’t mean the territory is automatically yours. Ultimately, it all comes down to the price at the Territorial Exchange. Can’t we just make the Grant family outbid us? You can even feign falling for it, pushing the price up, then finally pretend you’re short on silver and reluctantly concede defeat.”
Andrew’s eyes lit up. He clearly realized this would cost the Grant family several more hundred million silver coins!
“I know what to do,” he said in a low voice.
Julia let out a dismissive scoff. “Then what are you waiting for? Come pick me up! Do I have to teach you every basic instinct?”
It was a double entendre, a jab at his stupidity and his failure to properly cater to her.
Andrew set his device down, a vicious glint flickering in his eyes.
That glint confirmed my worst fears. He wouldn’t just be satisfied with taking down the Grant family; he intended to drag Julia and me into the wreckage right along with them.
It was the day of the Territorial Exchange.
At the West Barren Exchange Grounds, the territory auction wasn’t bustling like a typical human event.
All the major Alpha players were present, sitting quietly, waiting for the bidding to begin.
From my seat, I could see Andrew relegated to the back row, his eyes restlessly scanning the entrance,
He was clearly waiting for Carson’s arrival.
Finally, Carson walked in, Evan trailing beside him. He was already deep in quiet telepathic conversation with a business acquaintance.
And right behind him, Evan and I followed.
The irony wasn’t lost on me: I, the second largest stake–holder of the Silvermoon Group, was meant to secure this territory for us, yet here I was, walking in with the Grant family.
I noticed his stare, lifting my head until my eyes met his across the room.
My gaze lingered on him for only a fleeting second before I deliberately looked away.
That deliberate dismissal, I knew, would only fuel the fury I could practically feel brewing in Andrew’s wolf.
Soon, the Herald took the stage, and after a lengthy preamble about the ancient covenants, the information for the West Barren property finally flashed onto the big screen.
Territory Plot number 075, starting bid: two hundred million silver coins! Each increment must be no less than five million silver coins! And now, let the bidding begin!”
The words were barely out of his mouth when a paddle shot up in the crowd.
Twenty–one million!”
Twenty–two million!”
The bids climbed relentlessly, quickly blowing past the thirty–million mark.
Andrew still hadn’t raised his paddle. I knew he was waiting, biding his time for the perfect moment.
And just as I expected, when the price hit thirty–five million, Carson’s Beta assistant, standing right beside him, finally raise

Thirty–six million!”
This was it.
I watched as Andrew’s shoulders visibly tensed, and a thrill of barely suppressed excitement flashed across his face.
He shot a quick glance at his assistant behind him.
Thirty–seven million silver coins!”
The Silvermoon Group had officially entered the fray.
Instantly, all eyes focused on the two rows where the Silvermoon and Grant families were seated.
Manu
It was common knowledge in the pack world that these two lineages had been sworn enemies for ages. Now, watching them go head–to–head at this Exchange, I could feel the electricity in the room; it was going to be quite a show.
Carson’s side didn’t hesitate, not for a single beat. His assistant’s hand shot up, paddle in hand.
Thirty–eight million!”
Thirty–nine million!” Andrew matched it instantly.
Forty million!”
Forty–one million!”
The price soared, driven higher and higher as the two Alphas traded bids. Every single raise of a paddle meant another hundred million silver coins was iterally going up in smoke, vanishing into thin air.
The atmosphere in the room was absolutely electric now, a palpable tension coiling around us. Every single wolf seemed to hold their breath, their ;azes riveted on the high–stakes showdown between these titan lineages.
saw fine beads of sweat break out on Andrew’s forehead. His gaze was locked on Carson, and I could practically feel the desperate chant echoing in his nind: Match it! Just match it!
ore bid from you, and I’m out! That territory is the Grant family’s burden!
One more
Carson’s expression remained utterly steady, devoid of any discernible emotion.
After Andrew’s voice boomed out ‘forty–five million,” Carson finally made a move.
He didn’t spare Andrew a glance. Instead, he turned his head slightly, his gaze locking onto me in the back row.
met his eyes, and an almost imperceptible curve touched my lips before I gave a slight, gentle shake of my head. My wolf sat still, her eyes fixed on Andrew with predator’s patience.
It was an incredibly subtle gesture.
Yet, Andrew, who’d been watching me like a hawk from the corner of his eye, saw it perfectly clear.
A chilling premonition, I sensed, instantly gripped his heart!
Then, Carson turned back to his assistant and calmly waved a dismissive hand.
The assistant understood, lowering the bidding paddle.
The Herald’s booming voice cut through the silence, echoing across the room.
‘Forty–five million silver coins! The Silvermoon Group has bid forty–five million! Is there any higher bid?
He scanned the room, his gaze lingering for a moment on the Grant family’s seats.
A heavy silence hung in the air.
Forty–five million silver coins, going once!”
I watched Andrew’s face drain of color.
Fonty–five million, going twice!‘ the Herald boomed.

His breathing hitched, suddenly ragged.
He spun around to face me, his eyes wide with a mixture of horror and disbelief.
I finally met his gaze, my eyes clear but completely devoid of warmth. Instead, a cold, mocking smile played on my lips.

It was like watching a pathetic pup, observing him step by painful step into the snare he’d set for another, only to find it snapped tight around his own throat.
